Lunch at AK

Menus and reviews for both Satuli Canteen and Nomad Lounge look great, but am I right in thinking that Nomad takes the lead for being a nice place to sit and relax and eat?? I thought I saw folks eating outdoors in shade with a view of cavalcade boats going by??

Yes, Nomad has both an indoor lounge and a covered outdoor verandah, right on the edge of the waterway by the bridge entering Pandora. Satuli is decorated very nicely and is a pleasant place to eat but is not relaxing the same way Nomad is. It’s very easy to linger at Nomad!

Nomad doesn’t do mobile order, but they do have a walk up waitlist that you can access via the MDE app. It will tell you how long the estimated wait is, and you can put your name in without even being there!

They also have a menu that's not online - last month it had a Charcuterie board, Beef Sliders, a couple of other things not listed on the official menu.

Make sure to join the Nomad walk-up waitlist from your phone well in advance of when you’re trying to go. Unfortunately Nomad is rather small and popular - so during some peak times it’s not exactly a place you can just decide to go on a whim and be seated right away. You may get lucky with short waits, but you may not.

The walk-up waitlist in place at the moment is fabulous though - so much better than before COVID when it was basically an unmanaged free-for-all.

Nomad Lounge doesn't open their Waiting List until 11 AM - after first seating anyone standing in line. Because it's one of my favorites, I just arrive there around 10:30 and wait...

Okay! Good to know- thank you so much! Feeling like it may be worth it, as AK day is our kinda take it slow day- we don't do many rides, so AK is about walking, exploring, animals, and general enjoyment- I feel like sliders and a fun drink on a verandah fits the bill!

With AK opening so early, it's also easy to get a lot done before 10:30 rolls around if you're there at park opening. So, with an early start, I'm always ready to eat about that time anyway.

In addition to the sliders and a cocktail (my favorites) - I usually get the churros, too.

Ohhh... so you’re one of THOSE people who are already there hovering for Nomad when I get there 5 minutes before opening thinking I’ll slip in before the rush and am reminded that my plan was not a good one!

Unfortunately, I am! I arrive about 10:30, sit on the ground with my Kindle, and pop my umbrella if it's sunny while I wait

Seriously, it's the #1 goal of a solo day at AK. I can take or leave Pandora over this comfy chair and that cocktail while the characters drift by....
