Has anyone tried any of the special food offerings for the lunar new year at DCA? I'd like to try some but hoping for some reviews!

Interested as well if it’s better than last year. We tried the pho (Dh is obsessed with pho) and the Korean short ribs last year and the pho got a thumbs down rating from adults and thumbs up from my 1 kid. The Korean short ribs were flavorful but not much to eat when walking so much in the parks. I almost started gnawing on the bones then remembered my ladylike manners lol. Oh I also tried a terrible Vietnamese style drink that had the Asian “jello” pieces in it, kind of a really bad amalgamation of bubble tea and a Floral scented dessert. I really hope they’ve improved!

Xiao long bao (China): I would probably give 4 points out of 10

I tried the shrimp skewers this year and enjoyed them. Last year I had the Vietnamese coffee and liked that. It's good to have choices in the park (especially for the visitors) however a local could probably find the same or similar for cheaper elsewhere.

I tried several yesterday.

Korea-Vegetable dumplings

I didn’t like them that much-too much of a spicy kick for me! And the filling looked a bit chalky when I bit into it.

China-Pork Soup Dumplings

These weren’t bad at all and I liked the sauce. If I was getting anything again, I’d get these. They weren’t as good as from a proper dumpling house, because they didn’t have the liquid soup in them, but still tasted like good pork dumplings.

Vietnam-Rice Cake and Shrimp Skewers

The shrimp skewers weren’t great-didn’t really taste like shrimp and the sweet and sour sauce was very oily. It was also all ground up; I would have preferred a full shrimp. And the sugar cane skewers didn’t add anything.

The rice cake was very mushy and hard to eat. I love sticky rice but I could barely eat this. And the pork just was weird and too fatty, which just seeped into the whole rice cake.

I didn’t try the Pho, as it looked more like prepared soup, not proper pho. I was going to try the pork bao, but they were out.

I did like the entertainment for lunar new year, but the food wasn’t my favorite, and I like Asian food a lot.
