We are going home in a little over two weeks to the BW and have recently heard that there will be construction around Luna Park starting around March 31. Has anyone else heard that? How extensive might it be and will it interfere with relaxing by the pool?

a mixed up family!

The work to begin is on the outside of the rooms (in phases). Likely to see scaffolding in areas along the rooms but not likely to interfere with the pool.

As for any particular area that is an unknown. Renovations of the resort are to continue throughout this year and possibly into 2003 but they do one or two areas at a time and then move on to another. Likely, you are looking at 5 to 6 months to do the entire Luna Park area.

Is any of the BWV renovation affecting BWV dues? How does that work? Judy

Is any of the BWV renovation affecting BWV dues?

The dues are made up of Operating, Capital and Real Estate Taxes. The Capital portion is money that they put aside for the regular major improvements that need to be done over time (roof, carpet, new furniture, painting, etc.). Disney has a lot of experience with these types of costs and we should not see any big jump in dues to pay for these types of improvements.

Some of the BWV work is being done because the contractor supplied inferior merchandise. BWV members are not being charged at all for these replacement expenses.

The Vacation Magic statement on the renovations:

"We're making great progress on our Resort enhancement project! We've installed carpeting on the Villas side, and the Community Hall rehab continues. Work has begun on the boardwalk by The General Store, Thimbles & Threads and Boardwalk Character Carnival, all of which remain open. However, these improvements affect the Grand Villas, which will be unavailable through May 24. Work will also continue on the Villa quiet pool through March 30. On March 31, work begins by the Luna Park pool on the elevations and building facades. Both pools will be available, and are unaffected by the project."

Thanks for the explanation, it makes sense. I had figured there must have been some contractor issue here. Judy

Thanks for the info. As I said in an earlier post my mom who is dvc always winds up with something happening to her on vacation and it usually has to do with construction and this is where ever she goes not only Disney but everywhere, Jack hammers at five in the morning, painting the door of the room she is occupying and the list goes on!When we were at HH over Thanksgiving I noticed as we were by the pool that her hair was a bit "lighter" only to find out that it was paint that the contractor was spraying near the walkway to the pool on a windy day!My mom is just a magnet for this stuff and as she will be going home with us so I wanted to be prepared.
