Hi everyone. I"m behind the 8 ball and just read that Luna Park will be closed for our BWV trip over President's week. Does anyone know if they will allow people to go to SAB during the closure? I think I've read that they've done that in the past but was wondering if anyone had confirmed information about this closure. I've checked and there is nothing else available while we will be there on points. I could wait list. If we waitlisted which would be the best bet to get something this late? OKW, SSR, AKV?? I know it might be cold and we might not even use the pool but, if the weather is nice I have two kids that LOVE to swim and they are looking forward to a water slide! If anyone has any info to share I would LOVE to hear it. TIA

In the past, they have allowed use of SAB but they have said nothing yet, which makes it unusual since in the past the announcement of a Luna Park closure was accompanied by an announcement of being able to use SAB. As to other resort availability I would assume the one that is most likely to cover a waitlist is SSR and that is likely true any time of year.

I called last week, and yes, we will be able to use SAB. They will be using the golf carts to transport people back and forth.

We are going a few nights in mid February and thought about switching over to VWL. We decided to stick with BWV.

Has it been announced anywhere exactly what the changes/improvements will be? If so, I must have missed it (sorry!). I feel like I read some speculation that maybe they were making the pool zero entry, but that seems like kind of a major reno and it isn't going to be closed that long. Then again, what do I know!? But curious about what it is that they are doing. If this is spelled out somewhere, please point me in the right direction, thanks!!

They have not announced any changes and I doubt any of moment will actually be made. The announcement has the pool closing for only about five to six weeks which is usually the amount of time in the past that was used just to redo (paint, etc. ) what is there. A major pool change such as to zero entry would likely cause a much longer closure.

Sounds like good news to me! The quiet pools are still open but I get access to SAB in case the weather is warm enough for a pool day.

My 10 day BWV stay is set to start on Jan. 28. I actually had a hard time deciding between BCV for SAB or Boardwalk view. Now I get both!

This is news to me. We are staying at BWV Jan. 23-Feb 2 and I had no idea until I saw these threads this morning. I was hoping for some nice quiet time at the quiet villa pool. Ugh.

The announced closure is for the themed pool only. You should be OK for the quiet pool.

Thanks, I know it's only the themed pool. I was only concerned that the villa quiet pool won't be too quiet. While some folks will venture over to SAB, others will just hang at the 2 quiet pools. Heck, it may not even be warm enough to be at the pool. Last year it was great (in the 80s) while other years barely in the 60s. You would've thought they would send me a note telling me. I booked this reservation Feb. 2012. I am glad to know ahead of time though!

I received a letter from DVC yesterday stating that Luna Park is closing in January and re-opening in March. There was no mention that we could use SAB. I hope that we can. We are traveling with two other couples and would love to wow them.

I, too, would love to know more about using SAB. I am staying there in January and was really looking forward to using the pool if the weather was nice. I just got a letter today saying that Luna Park would be closed and that we could still use the quiet pools. However, I don't want to use the quiet pools, I'd like to use a big, nice one. Would they normally name SAB in the letter, or is it just something you would find out about as an option once there? I sure hope we can :worried:

I got my letter today. Same as the others. We will be able to use the quiet pools and no mention of SAB.

Have you found anything yet? We were just the other day able to get a few days at VWL during that week, so things might be opening up. Does VWL have a slide?

FYI, under closings on wdwinfo.com, it says " Sandcastle Feature Pool Slide will be closed 1/28/2013-2/15/2013. Pool will remain open." If you moved to OKW, one hopes that their slide work will be done by the time you are there, but it is good to know anyway.

We aren't even staying at BW this trip but are sad about the clown pool being closed. We love hopping over there to swim. Then again, we are happy to hop to pools of non-DVC resorts; we still have the Poly on our list of places to swim! DS really enjoyed the CSR pool slide, FWIW.

I haven't found anything yet. I did call the resort directly today and they did say that we would be able to pool hop to Beach Club so hopefully who I talked to knew what they were talking about since there seems to be a lot of conflicting info.

One time when I stayed at BWV, the Luna Park pool filter broke and they closed the pool for over a week. We got a voice mail in the room that SAB was available with transportation. I can't see them not giving an alternative to a pool with a slide. Any resort other than YC/BC would be very inconvenient.

Well I sure hope they continue allowing access to SAB. I honestly don't mind the walk at all, and with it being winter the crowds won't be all that big. I'll be ticked if the weather is nice and I'm stuck at a little, plain pool!!
