Luna and now Louie......

Sorry to bump this again, Selina. Just found the thread and had to offer my  and :worried: about both :cat: and :cat: . I recently lost a dear kitty myself and know the feeling.

All the best. Now, off to combing the neighborhood for strays!

Hi Christine, thats okay and thanks - sorry to hear you lost yours too.

As I have a holiday booked for the end of next month and numerous weekends away as my sister is getting married at the end of October (she's having her "Hen" night somewhere abroad!!) then a "spa" weekend where all us girlies will have the full works - massages, beauty treatments, etc, etc then Christmas away at relatives decided to wait till next year before getting another. This time I'm going to blood test them for cat leukaemia etc - though as you know Louie's was an unrelated illness caused by barbed wire and being crushed under something. I've also decided to write a children's book about them entitled "The Adventures of Luna and Louie" telling the whole story!!! I'll keep you posted on it's progress......

Just wanted to add my thoughts - we have also been going thru a kitty crisis. We have a black cat named Zorro that we have had for 14 plus years. When we came back from Universal two weeks ago, we thought we were going to lose him - he is in chronic kidney failure. Our wonderful vet has now taught me how to hydrate him with an IV bag, and let us know we may be able to have him with us for a few more months - but we will in the same place as you sometime in the short future.

So I just want to say, I empathize, and hope that the pain fades quickly.

Hi cc1954....I'm so sorry to hear about your black cat Zorro. it's really hard when they get sick.....I've made the mini concertina **Forget Me Not** photo album of Luna and Louie now and it is opened out by my bed.

Oh, Selina, I just read this thread and I am soooo sorry! I had no idea about your poor kitty! I know exactly how you must feel though. I used to work at a pet store. We took in strays from the humane society and I ended up taking in a poor kitten that was really sick. I took him to the vet and the vet said that if he made it through the night then there was hope. This cat was so sick that I didn't expect much, but to my surprise he made it. He could not eat for a while and I literally force fed him from a syringe just to keep him alive. Eventually he got better. I had him for 6 months and noticed that he never grew. He looked like an 8 week old kitten. Then one day, after the 6 month mark he started acting strange. He was cold all of the time and he would use the bathroom all over himself. I was constantly bathing him. He kept getting worse, but for some reason he never lost his appetite so I was hoping for a miracle. We found out that he also had feline leukemia. He got to the point that he could not walk and finally we had no choice but to ease his suffering and put him to sleep. I think I cried off and on for a couple weeks. That may sound crazy to some, but I really loved this cat. Then a couple of months later I rescued a cat that they were going to put to sleep. I had him for several weeks when he started acting funny. I knew right away what was wrong. I had him tested and sure enough he also had feline leukemia and had to be put to sleep. It was very depressing. I have not gotten another cat since. Although I already had 4 cats before all of this and they have been fine. This all happened nearly 3 years ago, btw. I just wanted you to know that I can completely sympathize w/ you. I am offering you the biggest internet hug ever right now!
