Lulu201's Healthy Living Journal--Just trying my best to walk the walk! Come on by!

Every day is a new day, Erin! :sunny:

I'll walk the healthy living walk with you, sweetie, just as soon as I get some healthy food in the house. ::yes::

I'll keep your MIL in my prayers, :goodvibes as well as the rest of your family.

Check your calendar - we need to get together. I'm missing my WISH-sis!

Blessings for a day filled with God's presence and peace and the knowledge that all is in His hands and all things work together for good.

Lunch--tuna, olives, tsp. mayo, 6 crackers at 7
Snack--apple at 2
Next snack--soft pretzel
Later snack--yogurt at 2
Dinner--soup and a few more crackers at 6

I'm drinking my water. :drinking1

Erin

I'm keeping your mil in my thoughts and prayers as well as you and your family. I hope they decide to put her in rehab to see if that does some good.

You've made some good food choices even in the midst of your problems. That's a great way to stay on track. Hang in there!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Hey, everyone. :grouphug: Thanks for your prayers; I appreciate them. Tracy, Chris, and Doreen, your messages lifted me up yesterday.

I stayed OP yesterday. :cool1:

Here's the plan for today:

1. Devotions :)
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value. -Albert Einstein.
To Act:
Be thankful for all you are learning, and grateful to all those who are teaching you.
To Pray:
Dear God, in the days ahead, help me to begin properly; putting first things first.
That prayer speaks to me!
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--have about 24 oz. done so far.
4. Exercise--walked the 1.25 route with Mickey. It was HOT! :sunny:
5. Food--yogurt and 1/2 cup kashi with coffee and 1/2 and 1/2 for breakfast=4.5 Dinner will be salad and roll w/butter at 20 (!), so that leaves about 4.5 for the rest of the day (if I use my AP from my walk and 4 flex). My stomach is already beginning to rumble. . .I'm going to have to really think this through. Probably lots of fruits and veggies and more water!
6. Scale--stayed off it again this a.m., though I dreamed last night I weighed 191. Oh man, I hope that's not true. I feel a BIT less bloated today, but I know I have a long way to go. I keep thinking of how great I feel when I'm at 156. . .will I ever see that number again???? :p

Off to run errands, go to work, take DD to Saladworks and then to a friend's, and then DH and I will go to choir rehearsal tonight. DMIL is not doing well; please continue the prayers, friends. I'll stop back tonight to catch up with everyone--

ERin

Prayers are continuing and you WILL see 156 again my friend!!!!! YOU WILL!!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Prayers continue for your MIL and the rest of the family. I'm keeping all of you close to my heart.

Don't let the added stress throw you too far off track. Make time to hit the grocery store for some healthy food! I'm learning this lesson over and over again.

Hope your day is filled with :sunny: .

Good morning, Doreen. Good morning, Chris. :grouphug: Thank you for your prayers for DMIL. She's back in the hospital and her heart continues to be out of rhythm. They found that she has two broken ribs from CPR done to her after surgery was completed--as you can imagine, this contributes a lot to her pain and suffering. Today they're supposed to defibrillate (sp) her and get her heart back into rhythm. Hopefully they'll keep her there a couple more days just to let her recover.

I'm on my way to pick DD up from a friend's house at 8:30, but I want to quickly post my plan:

1. Devotions
Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
Joy runs deeper than dispair.
—Corrie ten Boom
To Act:
Hold on to what is good.
To Pray:
Lord, slow me down. Help me to feel the sun upon my face.
2. Vitamins--on the counter
3. Water--64 oz. for sure!
4. Exercise--1.25 to 2.5 miles. . .I'll see how I'm feeling in the heat.
5. Food--coffee w/milk=2. a.m. snack will be SB meal replacement bar at 4.
lunch will be veggie cream cheese on lite english muffin=5. p.m. snack will be fruit. dinner will be some kind of a salad (anything cool!)
6. Scale-- :) purposefully ignored it again today. As long as I'm on program, I know I'm doing better than before!

Yesterday I stayed OP again. It hasn't been easy--I want to relieve end-of-the-day stress with a few trips around the kitchen :teeth: , but I know I can't. I've got visions of 156 dancing in my head, thanks to your encouragement, Chris!

I've got to run; I really will be back later!
Erin

Edit: Had the SB bar. . .it was pretty good. Also had about 12 oz. of water. I'm ready for that walk in the :sunny: !

Good morning Erin,

First of all, I want to give you a great, big, cyber  You, your MIL, and your family continue to be in my prayers. :grouphug:

Congratulations on staying OP yesterday! :cool1: I like what you said about "visions of 156 dancing in your head". That's a great way to help you focus on where you will be: at 156!!! :cool1: As Buzz Lightyear would say..."To 156... and beyond!" :3dglasses

I hope that today is a wonderful Wednesday for you! :flower:

Congrats on staying OP - You'll get your kicks - when you hit 156!!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: (I couldn't resist, I'm sorry - pretty lame) :rotfl: :rotfl:

Keep up the good work and I hope that your mil comes out okay - I would urt if my ribs got broke too but if the CPR helped keep her alive - then I guess it's worth it in the long run!!!!! :grouphug: and prayers!

Keep on
Chris

I already posted once this a.m., but lost the whole darn thing. :badpc:
Still, I'll try again, but this time I'll keep it short and sweet! :teeth:

Stayed OP yesterday! :cool1: I feel mighty good about that!

DMIL is being discharged today; she's finally sleeping and has her heart back in rhythm. Thanks, everyone, for all the continued support. :grouphug:

The plan:
1. Devotions :)
2. Vitamins--will do
3. Water--yup, I'll start this soon.
4. Exercise--no so hot today! :Pinkbounc
5. Food--DD and I are going out for breakfast, so I'll have to plan carefully.
6. Scale--still abstaining. I'll get on Saturday morning to assess the damage from July! :)

I'm going to try to post this now. Wish me luck!
Erin

Yay! I posted!

Now I'd like to post part of my devotions for today:

Daily Thoughts:
A Time to Think:
See how nature--trees, flowers, grass--grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence. . . . We need silence to be able to touch souls. --Mother Teresa
To Act:
Pursue righteousness and kindness.
To Pray:
Dear God, thank You for giving me a fresh start each and every day.

The message this morning was on marriage and how we sometimes lose our way and fail to connect. It's surely true--marriage has to be nurtured. I'm going to try to give DH some extra TLC today; he's a sweetie!

Now I'm going to see if I can post at a few journals.

I'm moving onward and reaching Upward--
E.

Edit: Had my walk, 32 oz. of water, and breakfast--a honey bran muffin and coffee w/skim. Total points so far today=11. Lunch will be yogurt and kashi at 3. Snacks will be veggies and fruit.

:goodvibes So happy to hear that your MIL is doing better. I hope that being discharged today is a good thing, and that she will have adequate care when she comes home to help the family recover too.

You've been doing really great this week! You are staying on track and I KNOW it will pay off! ::yes:: 156 sounds like a great number - have you decided on that as your goal weight?

Enjoy breakfast out with DD! Summer is such a great time to reconnect and spend extra time with our precious kids, before the craziness of school and activities begins again this fall. Savor these moments with your DD. :cloud9:

 and  coming your way, dear WISH-sis! :sunny:

Glad to hear about your MIL...hope she continues to gain her strength back and do well. Have a healthy day today!

Thank you for making me think, Doreen. IS 156 my goal? I sure like how I feel at that weight. . .but no, I'm not ready to think of a number yet. I think, instead, my goal will be related to staying OP. I feel like I'm being nudged toward a 100 day challenge, but even though I've been thinking it through, I'm not brave enough yet to go there. For now, my goal is to stay OP through the rest of July. Hmmm, a couple of more days. . .guess I can rise to that challenge! :teeth:

I caved and went to the scale a little while ago. It was good that I avoided it for a few days, 'cause the number (185) made me tear up a little. 29 pounds higher than I was in March of 2004. Quite sobering.

I'm going to take this journey in baby steps. My first goal is to stay OP for 4 more days. Here I go! :cheer2:

E.

I am so glad to hear about your MIL! That is awesome news! It is scary to set a goal weight - because that number seems to just float there in front of you. I really did enjoy in June just concentrating on losing 5 lbs. It didn't seem as daunting and was manageable. Of course it didn't work out as well in July for me ;)

~Amanda

 for you and your scale experience, dear Erin. I know how seeing a number on that scale can change our frame of mind and hurt our hearts.

But the truth is that you are healthy. You are working daily to take your vitamins, drink your water, exercise and eat healthy foods MOST of the time. You are coping with all kinds of stress and you have stopped some of the destructive eating habits that USED to be aggravated by stress. You've learned so much about you, your body and being healthy for the long term.

You HAVE made progress over the past year and a half. Maybe it can't be measured accurately on the scale but you and I both know you are wiser and better for that year and a half of experience.

Have faith, Erin. We'll keep walkin' on together, learning and maturing. Besides, in March '04 you weren't a long distance athlete!!

Love ya,

Thanks, you guys. You make me almost feel like a princess: . :p

:grouphug:
Erin

Silly girl, you not only can FEEL like a princess: , you already ARE a WISH princess: . ::yes:: I know we already have our princess: hats, but perhaps we should shop for tiaras next??? :teeth:

It's Friday and that means the weekend is just about here! I'm guessing you'll be on the road to visit MIL. I hope she's feeling better and things are looking brighter for all those around her. :goodvibes Prayers continue.

Take extra good care of you today, dear WISH-sis. :sunny:

 &
