Lulu201's Healthy Living Journal--Just trying my best to walk the walk! Come on by!

It's March 28, 2005! :)

It's rainy and cloudy here today, but the weather people say the sun is going to be out this week. :sunny: Now that's something to look forward to!

Today's "get back in the groove day". . .I have suitcases to unpack and laundry to do, plus I had to take the DDog to the vet this morning. While staying with the dogsitter, Mickey tore a nail. Now he's woozy and sporting a big red cast/bandage until Friday. There's always something going on!

I didn't get on the scale this morning. Honestly I just forgot in all the "get to school and to the vet" action. Ignoring the scale also gave me a chance to have a couple mini-Reese cups for my morning snack! :teeth: I'll get on it tomorrow, though, and get myself re-focused.

Here's today's plan:

1. Devotions: about forgiveness :)
2. Vitamins :) (took them on vacation, too)
3. Water: will try to drink more during the day and less in the evening. I was up three times in the night!
4. Exercise: Don't want to do this at all today, but 30 treadie minutes will do my stress level good, I think. While I PACKED the workout clothes, I never used them while away. I did walk a lot, though, in town.
5. Food: didn't eat too well while away--lots of good desserts. I'm giving myself a little more chocolate today, but will try to give it up tomorrow.
6. Scale: like I said, I forgot it in the morning rush.

Off and into the day, looking Upward to the source of my strength.
Erin

 for DMickey - poor baby. He's been through so much - what a trooper!

 for you, too, dear WISH princess: Erin!

Hope your day is filled with :sunny: from within!

Good morning Erin! :flower: I hope you have an excellent day!

Tuesday, March 29, 2005

Good morning, everyone! I'm feeling fairly :sunny: this morning even though it's VERY cloudy and I was up a good chunk of the night with the dog. He was in a lot of pain and unable to sleep--just sat up and moaned a lot. I took him out in the night (after wrapping his bandage in a baggie and taping it up), but whether it was the rain or just the weirdness of it all, he didn't go.

Anyway, so I'm gearing up to face the day. I got smilies yesterday for devotions, vitamins, and water. Today's looking a little healthier:

1. Devotions :)
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--working on it
4. Exercise--I don't know what I'm going to do at this point. I might try to get some rest instead. Edit: grabbed a little nap when I came back from dropping off DD. No exercise on the agenda.
5. Food--I'm going to try to eat on a 3 hour schedule. Breakfast was a lo-carb english muffin w/pb, lunch was chips  and yogurt. Snack will be an apple, dinner will be at saladworks.
6. Scale--up to 175.

I've got to get DD to school; I'll do my best to stop around during the day.

Erin

Hi Erin!

I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I hope he's feeling better soon.

The :sunny: is shining here and the temps. are on their way up! I hope it turns out to be a warm and sunny day where you are. :teeth: :sunny:

Have a great day! :flower:

Poor Mickey! And Poor Erin for being up all night with Mickey!!! :grouphug: I hope Mickey starts feeling better soon. Can you maybe fit a nap in today?

~Amanda

Gentle   for you and for dear Mickey.

Take it easy today, since you didn't sleep well last night. I hope tonight goes better for both you and your pupper.

Oh Poor Mickey!

I hope he is feeling better, for his sake and yours.

I'm glad you had a good weekend with DM.

Take care of yourself and get some extra rest this week.
Beth

:grouphug: Poor dog! I hope he is doing better!

I hope you managed to get some rest! Have a good day! :grouphug:

March 30, 2005 Today is a Lamb Day! :sunny: The weather is sunny and spring-like and some flowers are beginning to sprout by our front door. :)

Yesterday was a :) :) :) :) :) day for everything but exercise. Thanks, everyone, for your concerns about Mickey--and for me. I'm tired again today, but such is life. One foot in front of the other will get me through the day.

The plan:

1. Devotional :)
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--drinking away
4. Exercise--took Mickey for a slow walk around the park. He's able to walk on his foot now, and was happy to be out and about. :)
5. Food--slice of peanut butter toast and 1/2 an orange for breakfast.
6. Scale--totally forgot this morning.

Today and tomorrow are long days. I'm just going to keep taking those baby steps to get me where I need to go. :grouphug: to you, Tracy, Amanda, Doreen, Jen, and Beth. I appreciate you stopping by to say hi! :)

Erin

Edit: McDonald's salad and a milkshake :p for lunch. Snack this afternoon will be a diet coke with lime and a soft pretzel. I walked over to Dunkin' Donut this morning and got a decaf and will walk to the pretzel bakery this afternoon. That counts for exercise, doesn't it? :cool1:

Great Job Yesterday! I would never have done that well on little sleep. :cheer2: I like my sleep-what can I say? :confused3 The weather is beautiful here as well - I love it! It puts a little spring in your step and just makes you feel all :cloud9: Enjoy the weather and give Mickey and squinch for me! :)

~Amanda

Good morning, Erin! :sunny:

The sun is shining here and the temps are on the way up! I love spring!

I am glad to hear that Mickey is feeling better. That is such good news that he was able to go for a walk yesterday! Hope you feel 100% soon Mickey! :goodvibes

I hope you have a wonderful day today. :sunny: Remember: baby steps are the key! ::yes::

Take care, dear Erin!

Congrats on all those smilies yesterday!! I know today and tomorrow will be long days for you, but take it minute by minute and you'll do just fine. Recite Phil. 4:13 when your energy starts flagging.

Love ya, WISH-sis!

Hi Erin,

I hope that you are able to curl up with a cup of green tea and a good book tonight before a restful night sleep. You are doing great with as little sleep as you are getting right now.

Take care of yourself,
Beth

:wizard: for your long day tomorrow.

You know something? I think there's only one reason I really come here to journal every day--my friends here on the WISH. I know that I could keep track of my vitamins and exercise, etc. without this journal, but I would miss you all! Thank you for stopping by yesterday, Amanda, Tracy, Doreen, and Beth. I appreciate you so much.

Got a good night sleep last night :cloud9: and am now ready to take on the day. It'll be long, that's for sure, but you know what I'm thinking: Phil. 4:13!
Walking with baby steps and seeing the joy in the small things around me--that'll get me through.

1. Devotions :)
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--uhh, have been drinking coffee instead.
4. Exericse--took little Mick to the park for 20 minutes. We both enjoy it so much!
5. Food--eng. muffin w/pb, packed a sandwich and a banana. Will get a soft pretzel for later
6. Scale--looked like 175.5. I'm not stressing it.

I've got to head to work, but please know that I'm thinking of you all today. :grouphug:

Erin

Edit: drinking the water now. :)

I feel the same way some mornings it is more of a checking in rather then watching what I'm doing. LOL! Glad to hear you and Mickey enjoyed your walk this morning! Keep it up! Hope the long day goes by quickly!

~Amanda

 I feel the same way, dear Erin! My day just isn't complete without my WISH friends. :grouphug:

I can just see you and Mickey enjoying a stroll in the park! Maya, the Scaredy Pup, enjoys car rides much more than walks. :teeth: Boy, does she have me trained! Seriously, though, getting outside into the sunshine and the warmer weather helps lift your spirits and renew your energy. Enjoy those walks as often as possible.

Enjoy your day, WISH-sis!

Hi Erin,

I m sending you some :goodvibes: for your long day today. I am sipping a cup of green tea, and I was thinking of you.

I agree with you about the Wish boards. It is definately the friendships that I have made here that keep me coming back. I get so much support here, and I love to hear what is going on im my friends lives too.
Have a good evening,
Beth

Today is April 1, 2005, and I'm not foolin'! :p Doesn't just the sound of the word invite images of warmer days, gentle showers, and blooming flowers? I love spring time in Pennsylvania.

Thank you Beth, Doreen, and Amanda for stopping by yesterday. You guys are so special to me. Your kindness helped lift me up through a long, but good day. This morning I'm happy to be home. I'm going to do some serious puttering around this morning before I walk on the treadie, get my hair cut, and then go to work. :) DD has a sleepover tonight, so DH and I are going out to dinner. It's been a stressful week for him, so it'll be good to have some time just the two of us to unwind.

Yesterday I earned :) :) :) for devotions, vitamins, and weighing in, but I don't think I drank enough water. I know I didn't eat right--had too many Cheez-its when I came home after work--and I took a rest day from exercise.

Today's plan:

1. Devotions :)
2. Vitamins :)
3. Water--have started this already. I won't drink as much coffee today either.
4. Exercise--I'm planning on an hour on the treadie, but at a slow walk since TOM has arrived today.
5. Food--oh, I'm not stressing over this today. I'm going to try to eat lightly during the day, but I'll have whatever I want when we go out.
6. Scale :)

Two weeks from now I'm walking the OC Half Marathon with Doreen. I haven't trained enough. Knowing that causes me a certain amount of stress--I like to be prepared for things--but I know that I've done what I can do and that it's enough. Walking this half has become a symbol of something different for me. . .it's not about being a Jock Athlete Princess anymore--a 43 yr. old woman in the absolute tip-top of condition. Rather it's a celebration of my friendship with Doreen and my ability to take a risk, to just TRY, and know that whatever happens is OK. In the beginning, when I was thinking of going to WDW for the Jan. half, it was all about the task--about being in shape. I wanted my DD to see that you could do anything you set your mind to--train hard, "win" hard, no matter what your age. I felt that way in Jan. when I decided to do this half, too, but now it's different. I've had to accept the fact that I have limits--in time and in energy. Now I think my DD will see that I'm going to do the OC Half for fun, not having to be "perfect" at it, and maybe that will allow her, some time in her life, to take on a challenge even if she's unsure of the outcome, even if she's sweating it out at the back of the pack. :p

OK, well, I think that's enough deep thinking for this morning. . . :p
I'm moving onward and always looking Upward--
Erin
