Please help, I am traveling to WDW in March with my 5 month old son. He is my first child.:cloud9: I am very nervous that I am going to forget an essential when travelling with him. Any helpful hints would be great. So far I have picked up the following tips from the board.

Ziplocs, Oragel (worried about teething starting then), disposable changing pads for plane and park, extra binkies, pack & play sheet, blankets.

We purchased a seat for him on flight, so we will be taking his carseat. I plan on taking my umbrella stroller.

I think DH and I are going to go to Goodings upon arrival for formula, diapers, bottled water, and baby food. I will definitely bring an ample supply with me for first day or two.

Not sure what to do about formula and bottles. We will be staying at the CR not a villa this trip, that would have made things much easier. DS is using Dr. Brown bottle's now, but I do not want to wash bottles in hotel sink. YUCK. I am think I should pick up the bottles with the bag liners? Any thoughts? I am also planning on buying the Similac advance individual powder packs for the park, expensive but I think worth it in this case.

Thanks ,
Mrs. Disney Ron aka Luke's Mom:love:

Things I found helpful when we went with our 7 month old:
Sling/baby bjorn or ergo (alot easier to put him in that and go on whatever rides we chose that way he could sleep if he wanted to.)
Extra clothes for baby and us incase of accidents.
Antibacterial wipes/gel.
Infant Tylenol in case needed and thermometer.
Clip on fan for stroller in case too hot and a misting spray (we went in august - never again!)
Sunshade - used the rayshade and we had a blanket that was UV solar protected or something like that.
If you are driving (which you must be if you are planning to go to Goodings), then you may want to get your diapers and supplies and stuff from a walmart or somewhere cheaper than Goodings...they are pretty pricey although closer.
Hat and sunglasses (never too early to try and get him to use them!)
I breastfed so didn't have to do bottles...but I did bring a playtex bottle with the dropin liners and a couple of cleaned/steamed bottle items that were in ziplocks for emergencies. It would be great if you have a room with a microwave to use those microwave steam bags they have now.
All in all, I'd say don't be nervous - you'll have a great time and it's actually easier in some ways with a younger baby than an older one that you have to "entertain" more (more toys, dvd player, games, crayons, books, snacks, sippy cup etc!)
The most important thing is to acquaint yourself with the babycare centers at each park - they are great!

My son's first trip he was 6 months old. It was an amazingly easy trip. I felt like I was packing a suitcase every day to take to the parks but atleast I knew I had everything I needed.

I did wash the bottles in the hotel sink. I brought a bottle brush and a containers of dishwashing liquid. I laid out a towel on the sink for the bottles to dry overnight and then fixed them for the day. I used powdered formula so I put the water in the bottles in the morning and carried one of those containers with 4 servings of powder in my bag. When he needed to eat, I added the powder to the bottle, shook and was ready to go. I would rinse the bottle after he was finished so I didn't have stinky bottles in my bag. Don't forget extra clothes, burp clothes, bibs (I had a reflux baby), light blankets (for sun and cooler evening weather).

As far as your stroller goes, I think I would consider a larger stroller. Umbrella strollers are not that comfy for a small baby. I took a slightly larger stroller that reclined for naps, etc. - they usually have a larger basket as well that you need.

Don't stress over taking him. My son rode everything but the rides with height restrictions and loved all of the sights, sounds and colors.

Babies are very portable at this age :goodvibes Just be prepared to take this trip at a much slower pace than you are used to. We found it to be a great opportunity to enjoy things about Disney that we had never noticed before - shady spots, the more quiet shows, people watching, just soaking up the flavor of being in the happiest place on earth :cloud9:

You can buy Medela microwave sterilizer bags at Target. These are FANTASTIC. Wash the bottles/feeding supplies in the sink, measure a little water (tells you on the bag - I think it's like 2 oz) into the bag, add the stuff to be sterilized and pop it in the microwave for the specified amount of time.

I'd also suggest a Baby Bjorn or other sling in the parks - my kids weren't sitting upright until they were 6 months or soo, so an umbrella stroller wouldn't have worked for them anyway, but even if it had, they aren't comfy for wee little ones since they don't recline. When we had DS in the Bjorn, he could easily go on rides (the appropriate ones only, of course) - I felt much more secure with him than I would have holding him in my arms.

Each park has a great babycare center - find it as soon as you get to the park and plan to visit it several times. They sell babyfood at these centers as well - after the first day, I rarely took any with me to the park, just purchased a veggie and a fruit there (if memory serves each container was less than $1). I still bought a larger quantity at the SuperTarget and kept them in the room for non-park feedings, but buying them at the park saved lugging them around.

Will your little guy be closer to 5 months or six months during the trip? If closer to six, check with your ped about sunblock. In either case - please make sure he is appropriately clothed and shaded from the sun. If it is too early to find sunprotection where you live, they will have it there - we found a giant-brimmed sunhat that tied on was perfect, even if our DS was less than thrilled at first.

Enjoy your trip!
