Luigi's tires to be removed?

Bummer- we love Luigi's tires! I will admit that the first time we rode it, we didn't really get the hang of it until about the end, but since then we have had a blast on it. Our last trip we figured out if all 3 of us leaned back it would would go flying in reverse- we were going all over the place backwards. It was the best we were ever able to control it! We will miss it on our next trip!

With three of us on board we could never get it moving where we wanted.
It really just seems so uneventful and now, short lived that we really wont miss it.
Looking forward to something new and great if the rumor is true.

Our visit a few weeks ago was my first time riding Luigi's. I loved it! I rode with my daughter, DS and DH rode together. We didn't have much trouble getting around, and it didn't seem like the others on the ride were having a hard time.
I guess I'll have to make sure I get on it a few times next week, before it's gone

I only managed to do this once last year as I only had two days at Disneyland, but I absolutely loved it. This is one of my must do attractions when I return in 2.5 weeks.

I liked four things about this ride: 1) music inside the queue building was great Italian American novelty songs from the 1950s; 2) line was consistently pretty short; 3) at night it was beautifully lit up with little white lights; and 4) it was a ride where my kids and I would need to communicate and collaborate to make it work correctly. That was actually the funnest part. We would laugh so hard just trying to get in synch as a pair sharing a tire. I am sorry to see it go.

I can't figure out how to link my post, but I wrote about this a few weeks ago. I asked a CM this past Sunday. He told me that nothing has been announced officially and the higher ups are being very secretive. He didn't have a feel for whether the rumors are actually true. It is going down for refurb "mid December for a few months". So, we shall see! I hope not! My family thinks it's a great ride!

FYI all: Touring Plans has it going down Jan 12 to Dec 1... That's a long time...

TP can get it wrong, I remember this summer when Matterhorn was slated to be down for a few months this fall but that didn't materialize (although it looks like it's been put in the springfixapalooza for next year)

We went on it just because of the rumor and wanted to get one last ride in. The three of us figured out how to make it go in what ever direction we want but it still just leaves me totally unimpressed.
Hopefully Disney will come up with something more befitting of this beautifully themed area.

It would be great if they could put more in the area that little ones under 32" can do while they are waiting during a child swap.

We are gonna have to make sure we try it out when we are there, just in case it is truly leaving for good. We were on the fence about it, but it has just made the list . . .

This - OR an easier way to get to Bugs life - would be a good idea. BUT - I do appreciate that they are proactively replacing the ride to avoid maintenance/reliability that impacts our enjoyment of the parks.

When we were there from talking to one of the CM he said try it as a single rider. When you are in the tube as a single rider you can really get that thing moving and make it turn real easy. My son really enjoyed it. I think we rode it 6-7 times in a row. I think we had to go back several other times to take another ride.

I'm so glad we were able to ride Luigi's on our trip last spring. We thought it was great fun. I read a little about them beforehand so I instructed my teen boys to each ride solo. Hubby & I went together. We sat hip to hip and wrapped an arm around each other. All our movements were in unison as we worked together. It was a fun snuggle with my dearest. Got some great pics of my boys laughing and having a great time. Such fun. But, I do understand the problems. It'll be fun to see what they come up with next!

we rode it 2 weeks ago and loved it! Glad we got to do it before it goes away. I even got a pin for my pin collection.

also got this great picture of me and DS4 on the ride:

I give Disney kudos for trying the flying saucers style ride again, but in all honesty I wont be sad to see it go. I was disappointed by the ride. It wasn't worth the long wait to ride it. I got more pleasure out of watching everyone else try it out then I did riding it myself. Hopefully Disney comes up with some better concept of a ride.

I am one who will miss this ride. I love it. I always get moving pretty well, and ride solo when I can. (when my special needs son is with me, I have to ride with him of course). I cannot explain my attraction to this ride..... :lmao:

I have a last minute trip starting 12-31, so I will get to ride it a few more times.
