Official Announcement from the Disney Parks Blog:

Ever since Cars Land opened at Disney California Adventure park in 2012, it has been a huge success. This new land immerses guests in the world of “Cars” and makes them feel like they are standing in the town of Radiator Springs. We’ve heard from our guests that the cars themselves are one of the things they really love about Cars Land – and today I’m excited to tell you about a project that will bring even more four-wheeled fun.

At the end of the operating day on February 16, 2015, Luigi’s Flying Tires will close as our favorite Fiat departs for a vacation to his home country of Italy to visit with family. When he returns, his Casa della Tires will reopen as a completely new attraction in early 2016. The attraction will feature a new ride system and ride vehicles. We are excited to tell you more about this ride technology, so stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for updates as work progresses.

Finally they are changing this attraction...........those flying tires were awful from Day 1!

My family and I really enjoyed this attraction. I'm sorry to see it go, but excited to see what the new ride will look like.

My thoughts exactly. It was supposed to close before our trip next week but I'm glad we will get one more change to ride it before it closes.

I finally rode it for the first time in November and while I didn't love it, it was a cute enough ride. Hopefully the new ride will also be cute and fun.

I'm bummed. This was one more ride my dd could ride and now she can't

BOO! We will miss Luigi's Tires....It always made us laugh!! It was a FUN ride!!

I liked the ride because DS3 loved it and because it always had a short wait! But as an adult without kids I wouldn't have even bothered going on it.

I'm so glad I got to ride it twice last weekend to say my good byes. I always thought it was fun, but it did have a learning curve. Not everyone got the chance to ride it enough times to get the hang of it. I hope the next ride is just as fun. So long Luigi's, I'll miss you!

I sad it's closing, but I'm glad my son was finally tall enough to ride it in December when we were there. I'm sure he'll love the next ride just as much, as he loves anything Cars.

All I can say is don't wear a skirt on the day you plan to ride luigis (if you're going in the next 10 days that is). The new ride looks like it'll be fun, kind of like a cars "autopia" maybe?

Although This was far from my favourite ride, i still enjoyed it and thought it was cute. I can understand why they are changing it, but i think changing a ride that is less than 3 years old is a little extreme. I feel they could have better allocated the money and spent it on something new in a different area.

We liked Luigi's and always had a lot of fun and laughs on it. Sad to see it go...

I really didn't like that ride. Glad to see they are going ahead with the plans for the new ride.

Same. I like bumper cars and the concept of cushioning air, but the leaning mechanics just seemed gimmicky and got stale after one run.

I was always hoping they'd make it like regular bumper cars (steering wheel or joystick controls) but with the floating, and maybe making it single-rider (except for toddlers).

Seriously debating sneaking to the park on Monday to ride it one last time. My bff and I are big fans of Luigi. That said, I'm really excited to see what the new ride is like, especially if they have the trackless ride system. Pooh's Hunny Hunt at TDL uses the trackless ride system and it is the COOLEST THING!

This was a ride that was fun depending on who you are riding with. I've been with some that are totally into making the tire move all over the place and some that just sit and I do all the work!

My kids loved that ride. I thought it was fun, too. I'm surprised they are taking it out so quickly, especially since the Muppets 3D needs a major refresh.
