We are doing the 7 night eastern on 15th October. As we are staying in Florida for a total of 14 nights we will have enough stuff to pack so I don't want to pack a jacket for Formal night. Will I be ok in smart trousers, shirt and tie ? We are travelling from the UK so don't want to be overloaded with clothes etc.

Keith Ward,

On formal night, some cruisers wear tuxes, many wear suits or sport coats, but just as many wear shirt and tie. You will be fine without the coat. Although they require (request) a coat at Palo, but even there you can probably get by without it.

We've done 7 DCL cruises and my DH always wears slacks, long sleeve dress shirt and tie on formal night. NO JACKET. He has never felt out of place yet. It's about 1/2 and 1/2 for dressing up that night. I hate to say it but we have seen shorts and tropical shirts in the dining room that night too. Shorts are against the basic dress code on any night, but DCL doesnt seem to enforce it. You'll be fine without a jacket accept if you dine at Palo's.
