Luggage with 1 AM arrival

Our October flight arrives at 1AM . We know we will have to get our luggage at baggage and take it with us on ME to SSR. That got us to thinking ...if we did yellow tag it and not collect it, what does Disney do with it overnight? Where does it stay? Do they grab it before it hits the carousel or ? Just curious if anyone is aware and can share. Since we don’t need it that night, it is tempting to let them deliver it in the morning but not at the risk of it disappearing. Any ideas. Thanks!

Since the flight arrives after 10pm, there is no one at the airport to collect the bags with yellow tags. Those bags, along with all other bags on the flight will be sent to the baggage carousel. There,8 your bags will go around and around until several hours later when someone from your airline finally collects them and takes them to the airline baggage holding area. Early the next morning, when the DME folks start work, someone from DME will make the rounds of all the airline baggage areas and collect all the bags with yellow tags. Your bags will then be handled per normal DME processes and delivered to your room several hours later.

So yes, you could use the yellow tags on your bags, take DME to your resort without picking up your bags, and those bags should arrive at your room. The only real downside to doing that is having your bags racking up the frequent flyer miles circling the baggage carousel with the potential of them being taken.

Your call as to if that risk is worth it to you or not.

Thanks, all, that is exactly what we figured, that they would ride round and round. We will just take them with us as planned.

I arrived around 10:30 PM in March and my bags came out very quick! By the time I got off the plane, stopped in the bathroom, rode the monorail to the main terminal, and then stopped at baggage claim, bags were coming out and I got mine maybe a minute or two later. So honestly, stopping for the bags did not slow me down at all getting to DME. Doing the same next month.
