I expect to check in before my room is ready. If I check my carry on with luggage services will they deliver it to my room or will I have to collect it when I get back to the resort that night? How late are they open, if I do have to collect it?

You can call from your room & have them deliver it, but it may take several hours. There was a sign above the Luggage Services at POP that said it was open until 10pm.

The luggage service at the values are limited. But you can certainly leave your bags there and then call for them if they aren't in your room. My son and his family had a suitcase lost on their flight (everything for my daughter-in-law and granddaughter). Since we were at a value (All Stars), I told my son that he would have to keep checking with bell services at the resort since I didn't think they would deliver to the room once the suitcase was found.

That night, we came back to the room for our jackets (this was in December) and the suitcase was sitting in the room waiting for us. So you never know.

I don't expext to be back at the resort until after 10, so I was hoping they would deliver once a room was assigned

1) Luggage Services at Values are not bellmen.
2) They are Front Desk CM's assigned to luggage, hence 10:00 closing time.
3) They do not deliver luggage when asked or requested
4) They take it to the room when they make deliveries.
5) This could mean wait times of hours.

NOTE: These are Front Desk CM's, so they are in non-tipped positions. They also deliver DME luggage, but DME pays them a per-room allowance for delivery (I think it is still $4.50 per room). So, they usually try to delivery several rooms at one time. That is another reason why calls for luggage do not get a priority.

RustyScupper: Does that mean Luggage Services is abandoned at/after 10 PM? Or would a Guest be able to go there at, say, midnight and retrieve his/her own checked luggage? I mean, is there at least a skeleton staff there, or can the Front Desk help? Thanks in advance!

DD & I will be checking in early at the Pop Century, then heading to MGM until late (after 12:00am).

I thought that our luggage would be delivered to the room while we were out (including our carry-ons which I intend to leave with luggage assistance).

Am I wrong?

If you used ME they will deliver your checked luggage. If you didn't, you would have to try to make arrangements with POP luggage services...which I don't think delivers bags. When are you going? If it's soon, MGM probably isn't open until midnight so you may be back in time

We arrive Monday and MGM is open until 1:00am. We are using Magical Express. Is what you're saying is that only the checked luggage will be delivered, not the carry-ons?

I also have a Garden Grocer order due to arrive by noon on our day of arrival, that I thought would get delivered at the same time as the bags.

now I'm worried........:headache:

For years, even before DME Value resorts have had Luggage Assistance, not Bell Services. Yes, they do work on "their" schedule, but they do deliver to the room whether it is DME or not.

So if you arrive in your own car, taxi, town car, or sherpa and give Luggage Services your luggage, then check in, then go off to the parks, when you get back, your luggage will be in the room. If you arrive on DME and hand them your carryons, your carryons will also be delivered to your room without you there.

Also, they will pick up your luggage at the end of your stay even if you are not in your room.

Call them the night before, tell them how many pieces, and that you need your luggage picked up from Room xxxx any time after xx:xx am. Stack it all by the door, leave a tip on top (if desired), then go off to the parks. This works if you are using DME, or a taxi, or towncar, or even your own car.

If you are in your own car and come back to get your bags that have been picked up from your room after "Luggage Services" are closed, the front desk CMs can get into the baggage room and retrieve your bags for you.

I honestly don't know about Garden Grocer stuff being delivered. If you ask them to deliver, they may, but if you have refrigerated items, you might want to leave them in the bell room and get them the next morning.

Thank you so much! That is what I thought, but reassuring to have it confirmed!!:cloud9:

Thanks again!

Just to echo Carol's info...I had my luggage moved from BW to POP on one trip. When I double checked with Luggage Assistence at POP they told me go, have dinner, go to a park, have a nice afternoon and night...the luggage will be in your room waiting for you when you get back. Felt kinda bad since no one got a tip that way, but the luggage was there, waiting for me.

Okay, so if I'm at ASMu for 2 nights and then transfer to BWV does luggage assistance handle transferring our luggage if they're not truly "bell services"? If they do, would we be better served taking our luggage down to them instead of waiting for someone to come to the room? We wanted to go to Epcot the day we are transferring and were hoping Disney would handle the luggage and then we could just walk out the back gate to BWV. Or, is it better for one of us to get a taxi and take the luggage that way? Hope that makes sense. And, thanks for any help.

All you have to do is call them the night before, tell them you have xx pieces of luggage to transfer to BWV from room # xxxx, and you need it picked up any time after xx:xx am. Then the same as checking out, stack it all by the door. Leave a note to remind them it needs to be transferred to BWV and a tip (if you wish), then head on to your destination for the day.

Then as you wish, walk out of Epcot, and on to BWV and check in. Once you get to your room at BWV, call their Bell Services, and your bags will be brought to your room. (It will be after 3pm when they get to BWV.)

Luggage Services is the same as Bell Services, except you have to give them more notice, and they deliver and move luggage on "their" schedule. It is not on demand.

Thank you Carol. This is exactly what I needed to know. I really didn't want to have to drag my carry on to the park with me that day, but I'll need it that night when I get back after 10 pm.

Thanks for the info, Carol. We've never done a split stay before and this is the one thing I'm really nervous about.
