Hello
This may sound cheap but I was wondering do they allow luggage on the disney buses.I will be taking a taxi and I wanted to find a disney hotel that was the closest to the airport.then just take the disney bus to a park and transfer to my disney hotel bus.
Thanks

Why not use Magical Express?

ETA: No, luggage is not allowed on any bus other than ME.

No. Luggage is absolutely not allowed on Disney buses.

Is there a reason you're not using DME?

If I'm reading right, it sounds like the OP isn't going to have a reservation when they arrive. Although actually, the more I read it, the more confused I get.

Agree with the PP. If you are arriving at MCO, why not take ME to your resort? Don't put the yellow tags on your bags so you can pick up your luggage at the carousel and take it on the ME bus with you. It's customary to tip the bus driver for handling your luggage, but it'll be less expensive than a taxi.

If you want to take a taxi from the airport you may as well take it to the resort you're staying at. By the time you figure the cost of the ride from the airport it will only be a few more dollars to the resort. :confused3

Technically luggage is not allowed on Disney buses, BUT I have seen people board with actual suitcases and the driver did NOT stop them or say anything. The people I have seen do this also did not do this at peak travel times but say mid morning when the buses would potentially only have a dozen or so guests. Have witnessed it more than once. :)

I believe the OP is staying at the S/D.
No, you won't be allowed to bring luggage on a Disney bus with you. There are no WDW resorts that are close to the airport..they are all about the same distance. I believe it is just you and one other person traveling. If this is the case, just take the Mears shuttle. It's about $20 pp each way....and about $38 pp round trip. You could get a cab right to your resort, but that will run you about $50-60 each way.

On another thread the OP states they are staying at the Swan and Dolphin. Which makes things snap into place.

OP--No, you cannot haul your luggage onto the Disney park buses. You need to either stay at a Disney resort that uses DME, you can rent a car, or you can taxi with your luggage to the Swan and Dolphin. There is being budget conscientious and their is being silly. Save up the extra $10 it may cost to take a taxi all the way to the Swan and Dolphin. Don't put yourself in the position of standing at a Disney bus stop, being told you cannot get on the bus with your luggage.

I see Mom was posting at the same time. And has the best advice, which is par for the course. Use Mears. Cheap and reliable, and no fuss.

In that case, I would recommend the mears shuttle.

All hotels that use the Disney bus system (including Swan and Dolphin) are roughly 20 miles from the airport. A taxi is going to be very expensive, but if you do it you may as well take it directly to your hotel.

I recommend Mears.

Does anyone know if u can pay totake magical express? My parents asked once and I think the lady saidit was $20? Or I could be wrong.

I'm staying at a disney property with no magical express

All Disney owned resorts participate in Magical Express.:confused3 Shades of Green, Swan, Dolphin, and the resorts over at Bonnet Creek are physically inside the Disney gates, but are not Disney owned and are not considered a Disney property, so do not qualify for Magic Express. If you are staying at a Disney owned resort, then you can use Magic Express for free. If you are staying anywhere else (including Shades of Green, Swan, Dolphin, or one of the Bonnet Creek resorts) then you must find your own way from the airport to your resort. That would mean rent a car, use a town car service, take a taxi, or use a Mears shuttle. Mears would be the cheapest. I've never heard of anyone being able to pay to use Magic Express. The Magic Express buses only go to the Disney owned resorts. They will not stop anywhere else and you can not get on a ME bus without getting a reservation voucher scanned.

The Mears shuttle (they are the same company that runs Magical Express) is $22 one way or $36 round trip per person for drop off at the Swan. You would not likely be put on a ME bus, but in a shuttle van or bus serving other non Disney owned properties.

They're staying at the Swan or Dolphin.

PH7 - What you want is the Mears shuttle. Mears also operates the Magical Express, and you may actually end up on a Magical Express bus, but they are technically different services.

It is unlikely that those going to the S/D would end up on a DME bus. BUT..if you were going to a Disney owned resort, but hadn't made DME reservations and had to take the Mears shuttle, you could very well end up on a DME bus. You have to be going to a WDW owned resort to get on a DME bus..unless there is some extraordinary circumstance.
The S/D are not Disney resorts....they are on property, but not owned by Disney.

No, you can't pay to take Magical Express. It is only for Disney-owned properties, which S/D is not. You can only use ME if you have a reservation at a Disney-owned resort.

Your options are taxi, town car, or shuttle service like Mears.

This is confusing to some people.

Swan and Dolphin are located on Disney property. They aren't owned/managed by WDW. Guests can take advantage of Disney perks such as EMH and Disney transportation. They don't get DME, charge back to your room, gift shop delivery to resort etc. I'm not sure if it's still true, DCL guests could book S/D as part of a land cruise package. Those guests were allowed to use DME. Confusing to posters who saw a DME bus drop off/pick up at S/D. S/D offers their guests some of the same perks as guests who stay at Disney operated resorts. I understand the confusion.

SoG is on Disney property. I think those guests can take advantage of EMH. SoG has their own theme park transportation.

DTD hotels are on Disney property. Hilton pays Disney to offer EMH to their guests. Those hotels rune their own transportation.

Bonnet Creek is not on Disney property. Those guests don't have any of the perks associated with an on property resort. I doubt if Disney would even give any of those hotels the option of paying for EMH. I'm not sure about the hotels but I know the timeshare resort doesn't even offer complimentary theme park transportation.

Saying Bonnet Creek is inside the gates, while technically true, is very misleading. You don't get any Disney benefit. You can't walk to anyplace. You don't even get free transportation to the parks.
