Ok, I have begun my packing with my brand new suitcases . . .now I'm in a panic!

My new suitcases do not have identification tags that hang off the luggage, instead they have these slots where you fill out this cardboard card and slide it in.

Question is . . .Don't you still have to have identification tags hanging on the outside of your luggage? My DH tried clear packaging tape and taped them on the outside of the slot, but I don't think they'll stay on . . .Anyone else have this problem? Am I going to have to run out to Wal-Mart and buy luggage tags?

We use cable ties to attach luggage tags that we have purchased. They work very well and are extremely durable. We also use brightly colored duct tape to mark our luggage very prominently...it's easy to spot on the conveyor and prevents someone from taking it accidentally.

They also have the little hanging tags at the ticket counters for your use. if you don't see them , just ask. There is no written rule that it has to be a hanging tag, as long as there is some form of identification, thats all that matters. I would also go and put a return address label on the inside of the bag as well.

I'm going on a hunt today for lime green ribbon to tie on my luggage handles, stroller, etc. Oh yeah, better put my name on the bags too!

My luggage has the slide in slots on the side. I have my business card in there and it has stayed in it for years! There is no requirement that your luggage has to have a tag hanging from it. In order to ID my luggage, I have a "travel angel" tag from Chicos. My luggage looks like 10,000 other business travelers (black, rollerboard) so I figured men would be less likely to pick up luggage with an "angel".

I do recommend a tag or something you can identify your luggage by as it comes by.

Every time we get luggage tags (from Disney with a deal, from family, freebies, etc) I put them on our luggage. We probably have 6 or 7 tags per case. It makes it very easy to spot them. I started tieing lime green ribbons to the luggage last fall, too.
