Luggage help at the All Stars?

I have a question that I'm sure someone here can answer. We have only stayed in the moderates and deluxe resorts before, and we have always had help from bell services in getting our bags to and from our room. If we stay at the All Stars, will we have to deal with our bags by ourselves, or do they have a bell services staff as well?

I have never utilized the service but I believe they do have bell service!

If you want them there immediately, you'll have to deal with them yourselves. Otherwise you check them all with bell services, and when they get a "truckfull" they make the rounds and deliver everything to a bunch of rooms at once.

Of course if you check in late at night you'd be able to get them immediately, as long as someone was there staffing bell services.

Frankly at the AS Resorts, I wouldn't plan on getting much assistance...and plan on handling them yourselves.

You can "rent" a luggage dolly thingie from Bell Services for a refundable deposit of $200.00...it's a bit over the top if you ask me, but they do require a credit card imprint prior to letting one of those babies go.

I was very dissapointed with the All-Stars when it came to this... I had my mother come visit me last May. My father was busy with work, so it was just her. I had to work, so she took the Mears shuttle to Music, and went to check in mid-afternoon. The person who checked her in didn't tell her where her room was, other than pointing to the door and saying go back there. She had to lug her baggage around trying to find her building (Rock 'n Roll section). Took her 30 mins to find the building, and drag her baggage to the room. I wasn't too happy to hear that...

She had an early flight out, and Mears was going to be picking her up at 4:00am... awfully early. Now, my mother is an acomplished world traveller. She can take care of herself, no problems. But of course, me being the good son that I am, I wanted to make sure she got taken care of. So I went to Guest Services to see if someone could help her to the front with her bags. I mean, I didn't want my mother walking around all alone, in the dark, with her bags. Granted, the All-Stars are pretty safe grounds, but still... you never know, and I always worry. So I just wanted to have someone either walk with her, or pick her up in a golf cart. Didn't think it'd be a problem. The girl at Guest Services was very rude, and stated "We don't do that kinda thing here."

So... I went home, and called up the resort, and asked to speak to a manager. Talked to some guy named Matt (?) and explained the situation. He understood where I was coming from, told me that they don't do these kinds of things on a regular basis, but on a special request such as mine, he said no problem. Actually, "Consider it Done." were his exact words. I told him 3:45 would be a good time.

Well, 3:45 came and went, and no one showed up. 3:55, my mother ended up schlepping all the way up front with her stuff, and just barely catching the bus.

So, as you can imagine, I wasn't too happy with the All-Stars at this point... I understand that it's a Value resort, and won't get the level of service of the Deluxes (I've spoiled my father with the Grand Floridian... so he won't stay anywhere else... lol) but, this is still Disney after all. And when a Manager makes a promise to a guest... and then doesn't follow through... that's just unacceptable.

Oh well.
