Lucky #13 with pics ~ 9/25 Finished!!!

Thanks for the compliments on the photos. I don’t recall the settings that I used, I just kind of experimented and took many, many shots (gotta love gig memory cards). My photos are on another computer so I’ll look them up later to see what the settings were. I think most of shutter speeds were about 5 – 7 seconds long (used a tripod), and my ISO was at 100 (so the image wouldn’t be too bright because of the delay) I have the Fuji S6000fd, I’m not sure if it is even being made anymore, I don’t even think that it ever made it into the retail stores before they released the next model. That’s okay, I waited for the price to drop about $200 and then ordered it online at Circuit City. My next choice would have been the Cannon s3 after reading others reviews. I liked the Fuji because in addition to the manual zoom, it also gives you the option for the manual focus and you can adjust the other settings. It you can’t change lens’ like you can on some of the higher end stuff but I like it. Especially when I remember paying more for 3 MP Olympus with not as many options and a increadibly log lag time, not that many years ago. I especially like the larger sensor size of this model over some other PNS cameras so I can play around with more low light stuff. (when I’m on night shift, dispatch knows to leave me alone on my lunch break because I’m most likely down on the river playing around with the precious, trying to find that one perfect shot). The only really down side for me is no remote shutter button and it uses the XD memory card). I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing, I’ve tried reading some of those idiot’s guides for dummies with cameras, and I generally just find myself just giving up. One thing about my job is that I am in the perfect position for some seriously good action shots (wrecks, fires people about to jump of a bridge – you know regular stuff), but unfortunately that’s the time they expect me to do my job. Some how my boss takes a dim view of me walking around snapping pictures as tons of cars a crashing into each other.

As far as Jake liking EE. He loved it, in fact he and Emily rode several more times during the trip - which is good for me because usually I am the one that has to go on the thrill rides with Emily, so now they can both do it (and give poor old Dad's stomach (and a big one at that) a break. About the only thrill ride that I really like is TOT (at night) and Rockn Roller Coaster!!!! Jake still isn't up for that, but that's okay because it means I can mooch his FP's when we are at MGM.

Just wanted to let you all know our DK was put to sleep this morning. We only had him three weeks, but he definitely worked his way into our hearts. I won't be able to DIS without thinking of him. His photo is in my siggie. He loved to chase the mouse while I DISed. Sunday is Em's birthday so we are trying to cheer up. Thank you for all your kind word and thoughts.

I'm sorry sbout your DK:hug:

To comment on your report--thanks for the details about DisneyQuest. I have thought about trying Disney Quest on our next trip--your report has added positivesto the plan:goodvibes

I'm not so much into video games (other that GALAGA - the greatest video game of all time!!!!). However, since there has been rumors that DQ will be closing sometime in the late fall we opted to try to hit it one more time. My one piece of advice is to get there as soon as it opens and hit the VR games on the bottom levels before the lines build up. Also on the 3rd floor they have a type of bumper car where you also can shoot your oponets with a big rubber ball and if you hit their car it spins out of control.....Just be prepared for the noise (both Emily and I are a bit sensitive, so I usually keep a couple sets of ear plugs in my man purse - which I of course left back at the resort.)
If you need a break from the noise, there is a eating area set back from the main eating area at the Cheesecake Factory and it is rather quite.
Aside from the VR games, they also have some of the newer games available, but for me, I am perfectly content with playing the old 80's games.
Of course being inside of the A/C is a plus.

Day Five
We’re a little Off Kilter!!

And soon the characters came out to greet her!!was down and we went to visit our friends at the Character Connection. (Tip: When everyone else is getting FPs for Soarin’, nobody is visiting the characters. Send one person for your Fps and enjoy some time with Mickey!!)

We do this too. Hubby is the designated fastpass fetcher. Where is the character connection at Epcot. I've never seen those backgrounds before. In fact, we've never seen characters at Epcot.

Good report on El Rio del Tiempo:thumbsup2 I'm glad it's not changed too much as it's always so relaxing.

Epcot is beautiful!

I think Chuck would just be happy just walking around taking pictures. She says this like it doesn’t matter, but there was more than one time I stopped to adjust the settings on my camera and take a shot, only to look up see the rest of my loyal familia 50 yards ahead of me, trudging onward without remorse for the one they left behind.

Next time, leave her at Off Kilter and take you pics then. :rotfl:

Jake decided he wanted to spend some of his vacation money and get a Goofy cup at Ice Station Cool.

MMMMM.....Frozen Coke, my fave:yay:

And it was finally time for Off Kilter!!! How can you not love these guys!!!!

Never seen 'em. You can faint now. Gotta love a band with bagpipes!

Gorgeous photos! I wish mine had come out half as well. I've pretty much given up on firework pics. It looks like the spot for illuminations really worked to your advantage. It looks awesome to have the arch as a point of reference.

Loved all the pics, even the blurry Jake:cool1: Excellent camera work. I have found the night-time setting on my camera. It really made a big difference when taking pics at My Little Pony Live. Maybe I could try it for the fireworks.

After the show, Jake and I did one of my favorite things while at the world, take a leisurely walk around the world showcase. Since the rain had pretty much driven the crowds away, we took our time walking around and enjoyed the cool weather the rains had brought.

A good end to the day.

Day 6 – Our Quest to Disney Quest (or the noisest place on earth)

Lynn finally gave a little girl her share a dream pin (while this sounds like a simple effort you have to appreciate the scrutiny that Lynn but the potential recipients under – I swear she was one step away from having me run criminal back ground checks).

:lmao:

Don't get between Chuck and his Galaga!

My hubby's fav, also:lmao: He totally gets in the zone.

Do they charge for the games in DisneyQuest or does the entrance fee cover it?

which is good because my MAN PURSE, which has items and supplies for every occasion, was back at the resort.

Only a true man can be manly enough for a man-purse:rotfl2: I need a picture of the man-purse so I can get my hubby one. I'm always the one carrying stuff around.

Oh, no! I'm so sorry. At least you gave your kitties a happy home for a while. Their final days were with a loving family and I'm sure they had less pain because of it.

Happy Birthday to Em! A birthday deserves a celebration:rockband: A rockin' one for the birthday girl. How old is going to be?

 I'm so sorry.
Thanks.:)

I hope you will give it a try! It's like a video game paradise!

So sorry about your DK.

I hope your kiddos are taking it okay.
Thanks. They are doing OK. It helps that we are getting ready for Em's party. Something to take our mind of things. Cake makes it all better.;)

I don't know about the games inside. I'll get Chuck to let you know.
And I'll get Jake to take a pic of the man purse. (Even though I mock it, it's pretty cool.)

A good end to the day.

If you are facing the fountain with the Pin Station behind you, it is on your right toward Soarin'. It's kind of Epcot's answer to the Judge's tent at Toontown.
Never seen my Off Kilter? :scared1: But I still like you.

Em will be 11 tomorrow! It's a Darth Vader party.....I'm a little worried about her.

Lynn, I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty. I hope that Emily will be able to enjoy her party even though she's missing her pet.

Great updates and pictures! Your kids are so cute! My DD has the same shirt Emily wore to Epcot. The one about her brother driving her bananas. She loves to wear it!

Great updates Lynn, we loved DQ too but were far to wimpy to do the coaster one :rotfl2: Chuck was it a good view in Japan for illuminations? Great photos btw.

So sorry about your cat Lynn, hope Em has a wonderful Birthday my DD Jessica was 11 a couple of weeks ago but she had a glittergirls party :lmao:

Happy Late Birthday to Jessica!! Not much longer 'til you go!! I'm so jealous. I could use some magic right about now.

I finally found you, again! I got lost after your pre trippie. It takes me awhile to catch on sometimes.;) I just spent an hour reading your report and love it. The pictures are amazing, especially the Illuminations ones! I'm sorry about your kittens.

So sorry to hear about your kitty :grouphug:

Another great installment - awesome Illuminations pics!! :thumbsup2 We've never been to DQ - looks like everyone had a good time there. :)

Happy Birthday to Em from another Em! :yay: Would love to see pics of the Darth Vader party....sounds like something my hubby would've loved growing up (...or would still love now - LOL) :rotfl2: :)

QUOTE]

No, I think they have a few games in there that you can win prizes on and those cost $, but the other stuff like the VR and the regular arcade games are covered by the price of admission.
I don't know if they are still considering on shutting DQ down in the fall, we were planning on doing Blizzrd Beach this past trip but decided to do DQ 'just in case'. Of course it didn't hurt that Lynn had gotten so many reward points on her Disney card that I only had to pay the remaining balance of $5.

I actually have 2 man purses (for different occassions) but my latest one is a big fanny pack with a kind of built in holster for 2 - 16oz. bottles. It worked out great, I would freeze the water over night and they generally wouldn't thaw out till about noon. And the best part is, it was only $10 at wal-mart.
