This past Moday when my family and I were going from Dalton, Georgia to Lima, Ohio I would have to say that luck was on our side while we were on I-75.

While we were in Tennessee just before exit 81 which is Lenoir City all of the sudden the cars just came to a complete stop. Well we were just sitting there for at least half an hour and we happened to ask a truck driver parked next to us if he knew what the problem was? He said that two trucks way up ahead had flipped over and it would be at least another hour until they were cleared. However he said if got off exit 81 and turn left we could get onto I-40 and it would get us back onto I-75 which it did. So if it wasn't for that truck driver telling us that we would have never known to get off and use that short cut.

Now later that day after having lunch at a Denny's in Kentucky as we walked back to our car my Dad noticed that his left rear tire was looking low and a warning light came on when he turned on his car. Now we drove until the next exit which was 76 in Bera, Kentucky so he could get some air for his tire. Well the warning light was still on and that meant the tire wasn't fixed. So by some miracle we then get off at exit 87 in Richmond, Kentucky and there was a tire place. Well when we got there my Dad said it was an emergency and asked if the tire could be fixed, which is was and it took only 5 minutes and had found out the tire had ran over a staple which caused the tire to leak.

Yay!

I'm glad you got things worked out... and less than 4 miles from my house! lol We live between exits 95 & 90 in Ky.

I saw that accident. (Driving south on I-75) One tractor trailer was across I-75 N. The other was in the ditch. There was a car totaled that was on I -75 S and there was a small pick up with extensive damage on I-75 N.

There were injuries etc.. I could tell it was going to take a LONG time to clear!

How about that Kentucky hospitality! ;)

I know that tire place in Richmond. It's really close to a Chick Fil A at that exit. I go there often (we don't have a Chick Fil A in my town).

OMG I had no idea it was the way you described it.

My Mom even told the employees who fixed the tire that we would tell everyone we know in Toronto how great they were and we are not joking about that.

Sounds like you were there on Labor Day. It's not surprising they were open, with all the Labor Day sales, etc. But that was a really nasty and windy day here with the still-potent remnants of T.S. Lee coming through. That had to be unpleasant dealing with a flat then. It's still gloomy here from Lee, though the wind (and flooding rain) has moved northeast of here.

The wreck in Tennessee could well have been caused by a windburst and/or slick roads in that weather, especially if tractor trailers were involved. We had anywhere from 4 to 12 inches of rain from Sunday evening through yesterday between Chattanooga, TN and central Kentucky. Lee caused a lot of problems in the south (and upper south).

I could see the forecasts calling for multiple inches of rain, so I went around my house and made sure all my gutters were clear. Good thing I did.

Yes we were there on Labor Day and that morning we had a lot of rain that resulted from Tropical Storm Lee that was in Dalton, Georgia and into parts of Kentucky.

I would also not be surprised if the trucks crashed because of all that rain because we saw a lot of them going really fast during those bad conditions, although some cars were also doing that.
