Day 4
Day 4, and its only Tuesday! After breakfast at the Whispering Canyon, it was off to Animal Kingdom. We arrived about 9:30am, and it was Murfs turn to be our guide. He directed us toward the Tree of Life, and it was awesome! We were able to get into Its Tough to be a Bug without much of a wait. It was a real funny show; loved the effects. (But I have to mention that I got a bit freaked out here, which might have been a mild case of claustrophobia. We were one of the first ones into the final holding area before the theater, close to the front, and I suddenly panicked! We moved back up toward the entrance doors, and when I could see a way out, I calmed down. I dont know if anyone else has experienced this, but thought Id mention it.) Then we were off to do the Safari. There was only a slight wait, and were loaded in the front row within 10 to 15 minutes. We did get the chance to see the baby elephant. Would have liked to take a behind the scenes look here, as we used to volunteer at our local zoo, to see all the details. We really enjoyed this experience, I only wish it was longer. We then stopped at the fruit stand for a quick treat and some water. Up to now we didnt notice any crowds, but they were starting to build. We did the Jungle Trek, and like this too. It was going to be another hot day, and by 10:30 most of the animals were seeking cooler spots. I liked Flights of Wonder too, but there were a lot of people, so we kept on moving. I really thought the guide sheets they offered to let people know which animals and birds they were seeing, were great. I was only slightly temped to take one. I wondered if they sold them at one of the shops, but I forgot to check. We then did the Kali River Rapids, and this was great! We laughed so hard; and delighted in the cool water on such a hot day. We didnt get too wet, until we neared the end, when all those friendly guests welcomed us home with a watery fanfare. It was then off to Dinoland. The only thing here for us was DINOSAUR, which was really bumpy. We again got the front seat, and although I squealed with excitement, I was kind of glad when it was over. It was very dark, and very brief. Its not a roller coaster ride, but I did get jostled a lot. This whole area was teaming with people. It was now going on 1:30PM, and we wanted a sit down meal. We headed to the Rainforest Café, but the wait was 45 minutes! We took a seat at the bar for a drink. I had a Margarillia (thats what it was called!) and Murf had a Chocolate Banana Blast. (His was very good! Mine was OK.) We opted to eat at the bar, with Murf getting a burger & fries, while I had the Cobb Salad. Id rate the food as fair. With our tummies full, the crowds and heat, we decided to head back to the Lodge to cool down, and make out plans for the evening. Unfortunately, we never made it back to what we felt was our favorite park.
Regrettably, Murf ended up not feeling very good that afternoon. We rested at the room for a bit, and I took the opportunity to do some shopping around the Mercantile. I got some hair clips to try to tame my flyaway locks, in this humid climate. Later that evening we headed back to DTD, and shopped around, but Murf never really got into a groove. I needed to eat something, so we stopped in at Planet Hollywood. It was late, and it was crowded. They sat us by the door, and with everyone coming and going, I never felt really comfortable. We had a couple of White Russians, and sandwiches, then went back to the Lodge, hoping tomorrow would be a better day.
