Is this something you have to book through dining? Or separately?

Do you have to pay ahead of time?

What kind of food do they serve?

Does anybody recommend this?

You book it through dining just like you would any ADR. They need a credit card number and if you're not on the DDP (we were) I believe they charge your card at that time (like buying tickets really). We enjoyed the experience as we'd never been to any kind of dinner show remotely like this one so I'd recommend it. Would we do it again? Probably not :) Here's the menu...

We have done the show a couple times. First as a whole family the next time just with my husband and I. The kids liked it the first time, but did'nt want to do it again. The food was really good. They charge you 2 TS credits for this if your on the DDP. And you do need a cc number to reserve it regardless of the fact, although they only charge it if you don't pick up your tickets in the alloted time. If you have very small kids I don't know if I'd do it with them. It's quite a long show and don't know how much they'd enjoy it. And I'd deffinately opt for the earlier show so you can get to see the fireworks from the beach afterwards! :)

The luau seems to get many negative comments on the Dis. But we went last year with DD7 and we all love it. Yes the story is a little lame but it is a great experience.:)
