Luau report

We arrived home last night and wanted to tell you all about the Luau. IT was fantastic.
We have been there quite a few times and we always enjoy the fun and the food there..
We were seated in Tier one...it was dead center and had a good view of the stage and the performers..BUT I think that all the tiers have a good view ..
We started off with delicious pineapple coconut bread. My favorite ..there was a long tray of different salads. I stuck with the greens and Mango dressing. They changed the rice dish. It was sticky white rice with a sweet dressing. It was not high on our list of likes...Our server was Wally and he was amazing. He told us that the new rice dish was not being liked very much. They weigh each portion going back to see how much is being consumed.,...not much at our table. We all did try it though. The chicken was delicious. Moist and such a good flavor....Pulled pork was devoured as were the pork ribs. Long green beans and sliced carrots with little corn was also on that dish....White and red wine and beer also were served. Before I could say ..NO THANK YOU there was another one sitting at our plate. Wally the server took plenty of time with us and when he found out that we were from "THE DIS"...he immediately went out and got the chef...he has been the head chef there for 15 years. We told him that we have been going to the LUAU off and on for the last 20 years. We talked about the new things added and he said to keep him informed of what the DIS said...
Very pleased to have this chance to talk to the head chef. I did see him go to a few tables to talk about special options...
The new dessert was delicious...very sweet but just the same delicious...it was a type of bread pudding with caramel sauce and sliced fruit...a few bites for us all to try.
BUT the performers and the singing and the Island dancers were fantastic. The Flame dancer was outstanding. He acts like a goof ball at the beginning of the show but he was a great performer and the best I have seen doing the flame dancing.
We enjoyed our experience there...if any questions please YELL

I was wondering if you went to the 5:15 show or the 8:00 show? Seems like 5:15 would be better for little ones but not sure the fire would show up as good.

We went to the luau on Oct 9. I am glad that I did it once but I won't do it again.

+ we went to the late show, I thought the lighting for the fire dancer was better at our show than it would have been for the earlier show.
- category 2 seating was on a riser, my view was fine but a server blocked my husbands view throughout most of the show because his tray stand was in front of him --- category 1 was sold out when I booked.
- I was shocked to hear that the disney luau was more expensive than a luau in Hawaii.
- perhaps I was tired, but I wasn't following the story well..it was most likely me not listening closely enough.
+ and - food....some items were good ....others not so much. I liked the bread and chicken. I didn't like the pork. The ribs would have been better if I could have seen what I was eating!
+ native dancing....I wish there would have been more of that vs. the story.

we have been both to the early show as well as the later show.(pre Tables in wonderland card)..

We took our grandkids who were 4 and 6 to the early one and they loved this..Our grandson was totally in awe of it all...and they ate like little piggies..

Our oldest granddaughter and her fiance are going on their honeymoon in May after she graduates from Pharmacy school....so she is wicked excited as we are for our April trip..

Hope those who are questioning the Luau...it was really a great night

I do not like bread pudding. Is there anyway to get a different dessert?
