Hi! We are trying to decide whether or not to book the Luau at the Polynesian. We will have kids ranging from 3-16 with us. I would appreciate any and all experiences! :hippie:

I did it last week. Was worried it might get too cold, but the weather worked out just fine.

Food was great. All you can eat ribs and chicken. Very nice. Two show times. I went at 8:00 ...but I think there is also a 6:00?

Show was great fun. Corney start.... but great dancing and fire work was fantastic :thumbsup2

I've read good and bad reviews and decided to try it myself. I'm glad I did.
Its like most of Disney...if you're an expert and want to tear it apart...its not Hawaii....but if you like the Disney's kind of fun... this is great!

I went 2 years ago with my niece (5) and two nephews (8 & 5). We had a wonderful time. The food was good and we liked the show. I also heard many different reviews, but wanted to see for myself. In the end I thought it was worth the money.

They have taken out a lot of the stupid story that used to be in the show and have put in more Luau-type stuff, thank the good Lord in heaven.

It is much better now.

Still not as good as Hoop-Dee-Doo, but worth seeing if you like Luaus.
:goodvibes

We did it last May. We had read quite a few bad reviews so decided to do it on Day 1 just in case. That way, we had a lot of other great things to look forward to if we didn't like it. We were pleasantly surprised. Our kids had a great time and so did we. The kids got to go on stage and learn a little dance and the youngest thought the whole thing was amazing! This is one of my favorite Disney experience pictures from our trip!

Its been a while since we have been there. We went about 3 years ago. The show is great. My kids loved it. My girls went on stage and learned the hula. The food is okay. I would say it was worth for the show.

I have 3 teens, do you think it would be of interest to them? Any idea on how the tickets are? Thanks.

Book it as early as you possibly can -- I *believe* you can book it one year out. The earlier you book, the better the seats you get. We went in Oct. '05 and I booked on the earliest possible date (www.allearsnet.com, or disney itself, can give you the date you can book) -- we were front row, center. We (DH, DS, 7, and I) enjoyed the show and the food -- as others have said, if you expect authentic Hawaiian/island quality you'll be disappointed but if you're in it for a Disney good time you'll enjoy yourself. But hey -- a lot of fun does come from being right up front; I *probably* wouldn't book it last minute and end up in the back....

WE didn't really care for the food at all. Parts of the show were good. It was ok once---won't be going back. The price I believe is around $60. ea for adults. Definately over priced. We had more fun at Ohana for much less.

THESE responses are great! :thumbsup2
I was so excited to actually see a picture of the actual show and that happy little face in the audience! You guys have been great!
I would love to hear more!

We just did it on the 17th of this month. Dh enjoyed it and gave it 2 and a half stars, DS’s said it was decent but they liked other dinner shows we been to in the past better then this one. We all agreed the food was one of the best we had at dinner shows and the show itself was entertaining enough but got better after dinner especially with the fire dance. I must say that DS 15 and DS 13 wore not happy about attending it and wore “secretly” hoping for rain/cold weather to avoid it, but while there they wore both entertained and afterwards they both admitted they wore glad that DH and I made them go. We went to the 5:15 show and went on to Epcot after to watch the fireworks; it was a perfect evening in my eyes. Below is the picture.

We went on the 4th of this month. It was our 15th trip and our first trip to the luau. After the show all we said was "why haven't we done that before?" Maybe we are easily entertained, but we LOVED it!!! I am not sure about a 3 year old, but older kids definitely will like it. We thought the food was great and plentiful. I booked it 60 days in advance and we were the second table from the front in the center. Book ASAP, and have a great time!

My DH and I went to the Luau last April and really enjoyed it ! I was concerned about all the poor reviews it got, esp. about the food since my DH is rather picky. I booked it and kept my fingers crossed and glad I did especially since this is as close as I'll probably ever get to a real Luau. DH loved the food, even ordered 2nds on the ribs! The show was fun esp. when the fire dancers came out. They were great! The children that were there really seemed to enjoy it b/c they all got to go up on the stage and dance.
Also, if you haven't done the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue yet I would recommend it. We had a blast ! :rotfl: And if it came down to choosing between them, I would go with the HDD b/c it will really keep the kids entertained. Do both if you can :thumbsup2 Have a great time !!!

We enjoyed the luau. We saw it the old way and the new way with the story. The story was a little cheesy. But the hula dancing stuff and the fire dancing were very good.

Can you elaborate on how it is different than the story? What did they add or omit? Hubby wants to try it again this year and I would like to know.
Thanks
