Luau in December?

Has anyone done the Luau in December? We are going first week in December and are concerned about the weather and temperatures. What happens when Luau is canceled due to inclement weather? I would imagine that would create a large # of people without advance dining reservations.

We would appreciate any and all feedback, as we want this to be a special trip.

Hi! We did the Luau in Jan. '06 the first week of Jan.- the weather was fine; we had a great time! We also got front table seating. It was awesome! Enjoy!

We were scheduled to go to the Spirit of Aloha show in Jan. 2006 and it was canceled due to the weather (mostly high winds). We had a message on our phone when we got back to POR the night before our show to tell us it would be canceled. Since it was not a busy time of year, we were able to get ADRs for the next night easily- in fact we went to CRT instead. We wre on the DDP and at that time CRT was only one credit and we also did an extra breakfast at CP since we had two credits to use. In our experience, we were able to get ADRs and they gave us time to know it was not going to happen.

We ate here in Jan. once at the earlier showing. It was freezing, and signs went up that the second show would be cancelled. Our dancers stuck it out, but they were shivering! And the Fire dancer (worth the price of the show alone!) stopped for a comical minute to warm his hands on his flaming torches!

We had something similar to the PP in the week going into Christmas, Dec. 05. I think they did cancel the later show for the cold. We wore jeans and coats and were well under the roof. We warmed up when the food and drinks came and all the people had been seated. But it was chilly (45-50 degrees, maybe?). I'd book the earlier show and have lots of layers.
