My husband and I will be arriving in Honolulu at 5am this upcoming Sunday. We have a rental car & plan on heading straight to Aulani to drop off our luggage. I would like to assume we can use the Luana Lounge when we arrive to freshen up before having the front desk store our bags until our room is ready during the day. Is anyone familiar with this lounge- would this be the case? I know 6am is pretty early- so I wasn't sure if they allowed access that early.

I don't think you'll have any problem with this. Lots of Aulani visitors come from Asia and they typically arrive on red-eye flights that get into HNL early.

I saw people changing into swim clothes in the regular rest rooms too. Not sure if that was because they couldn't get into Luana, or just b/c it was easier. I don't remember seeing hours posted, but I'm sure you could call them now and ask.

We were checking out last weekend and using the lounge to clean up after the pool. There were families in there who had just checked in and were changing into pool clothes and waiting on their rooms. They only give you a one-time entry into the lounge, so just have your pool things all in one bag at check-in, if you can, so you can make sure you keep that from bell services while they store your other luggage. There is not much room in the lounge bathroom area, so unless you have minimal luggage, I'd plan to give all but your pool clothes, sunblock Etc to bell services first, then enter the lounge. Then you'll have your bag of regular clothes that you can add to your luggage with bell services after you've put on swim things, or just lug it around until room is ready.

So there aren't lockers in the lounge? How does that work if we are only allowed to go in once? I was planning on using the room upon check in since we will be early, and use the lockers for the small bag we will have with our swimsuits/change of clothes and our electronics.

There are lockers in the lounge shower/restrooms. They're only meant to be used while you're showering/changing, is the thing. Not to store your stuff longer than an hour. There is a sign up that they monitor and remove anything left longer than that. And yes, once you leave the lounge, you don't go back in. There isn't nearly enough space/storage for all the early arrivals and late departures to keep their stuff there all day. It's not a big place. Think of it like a small spa shower/restroom situation.

Some people were napping on the furniture/floor in the "living room" sort of space outside of the shower/restrooms. They all had a bunch of stuff with them, although I couldn't figure out why anyone planned to use the space that way. Maybe they were just tired and didn't want to check stuff with the valet? But they did have to stay with their stuff b/c there wasn't a storage space in that area.

We didn't do early arrival, but did do late check-out. We left everything possible with the valet. DH and I each had a small bag that had what we'd need for the day - change of clothes for us and the kids (i had mine and DD's, he had his and DS's b/c the lockers are in the separate spaces for men/women), money/credit card (this shouldn't be necessary for early arrival b/c you should have a room card with charging privileges even without a room yet), sunscreen/hairbrushes. Nothing worth stealing. I used my water wallet thing for my phone, etc. The kids ipads were buried in the luggage with the valet. However, the front desk does also have safes you can use! We had to do that one day when the room safe battery died and didn't work - store wallets and stuff there while engineering fixed the room safe.

THANK YOU!! I guess I will be storing our electronic stuff at the front desk, unless we luck out and our room is ready! I am not counting on that ;) I am glad to hear the front desk has safes as well.
