Uuaww...you should really do your research before you try to bash LSU. You obviously know nothing about Louisiana colleges. Your statement re Louisiana Monroe couldn't be more wrong. You do realize what the letters "LSU" stand for, right?

Did you even read my post, I said that I am not that good with colleges in that region, but usually State schools aren't as good as University Of ... schools. In California, University of California LA and Berkeley are much better schools then San Diego St. and Fresno St. I know that in many other states it is the same way, like Illinois. So don't go chewing me out when I even said that I wasn't sure, outside of Tulane, I don't know how good the schools are. But it doesn't really matter, because if you are going to compare California's best schools to the south's, it is no contest who is better academically.

No one here has attacked your school (Cal, didn't you say?) Why do you feel the need to attack our schools and in fact our entire Southern populace?

You state in several posts that you are not that familiar with universities in the south, but you are sure they are not quality institutions? That LSU is not a good university because it has the word STATE in it's name???? Come on, surely if you thought about that one a minute you would realize that statement is just silly Do you not understand that the word State in their name IS JUST THE NAME! They are state supported as are a lot of Universities (even University of_______)....they just chose to name their university Louisana State University. Even my 11 year old understands this concept.

And I didn't read anyone here say that football is more prized at Southern universities than academics. You made that assumption based on your obvious preconceived prejudices...you yourself said,

College football is a sport we enjoy in the south. I also enjoy baseball....neither means I do not value education.

You enjoy football, obviously...you follow it. By your own logic you must not care a wit about education. But yet, you seem to be a college student. Hmmm....maybe then that assumption is wrong (that you don't care about education because you like football) ...and maybe your assumption about Southerners is wrong as well. Is that at all possible?

OK. There was a horrible incident at the the Clemson vs USC game last year. So that obviously means that all Southerners are violent and care only about winning football games again. Hmmm...and those South Carolina folks must be the worst! And I guess then that all Californians must like to riot and burn cities since I've seen that happen twice in my life in LA. Of course not! Both ideas are proposterous!

No, I do not think ESPN is unimportant....they are entertainment. You said it yourself...it is their opinion. They don't shape my opinion....I am fully capable of doing that myself with information. They provide the information to me (I really like ESPN...got a friend who is on ESPN). CNN, Fox News or MSNBC doesn't suceed in telling me what my opinion should be either (if they are trying).

Took this from your very own post. Now, this item from you should really make you think. You say your self you know nothing of the area, yet you feel totally qualified to judge us all.

I've got an idea....maybe what you really need is a break from finals and a trip to Disney World! And maybe you could actually stop in the South at a few locations and learn a little about us instead of just flying over us and assuming you are superior to us. Just a thought.

I just keep reminding myself how good it felt once upon a time to walk out of that Superdome after winning the National Championship and seeing all of downtown lit up in purple and gold with horns beeping the LSU chant.

Wasn't that great?? I will never forget everyone parading down a closed-down Poydras after the game, seeing the Hibernia building lit up purple and gold.
"LSU! LSU! LSU!"

And I do suggest before anyone posts negative comments about anything, he/she conducts some research before putting his/her foot in their mouth. Just an opinion, but it isn't very flattering to make judgments without knowledge, and it will save a lot of negative energy on these boards.

I do know one thing. LSU has that national championship trophy from 2003, and there are many times on NATIONAL media, I hear them referred to as the "2003 national champions," not "co-champions." If people want to argue it years later, I don't care. But LSU has that BCS trophy, and that's enough for me!

Regardless, I am extremely proud to be a Tiger fan any day, any year, no matter what their record. And I am a PROUD LSU alumna.

jackie, there is a reason behind the state names vs uni of names, i just don't know it. and I don't know the south well, I agreed to that. the only parts of this i didn't like was when they said lsu was a good school, which i went and shot down by posting the top schools in the nation. i do love college football, but it isn't my top priority, school and weather (the reason i turned down Davis and Cal) are my top two. if football was my top priority, i would have gone to cal, easily, but the weather would have made me depressed so i went to cal poly. And yes, i feel obligated to judge when told that the south is as good academically (not this thread i don't think) as the west.

WOW all this because Vanessa wanted someone to watch the game with her. Well now you get my two cents. It is just a game, but that's the great thing about it, you pull for a team, they either win or lose, end of story. We are die hard fans down here, It's what we do. And the thing about education, I am so sick of everyone thinking the south is just a bunch of coonasses sitting on there front porch with a rifle in there hand. Have you ever even been here. I won't disrespect anyone from California, I've never been there, but how funny of you to judge us. And LSU isn't ranked as a great school academically, so are all their students stupid. It's personally a slap in the face, I went to LSU, shame on me for not looking up the top ranked schools in the nation a going to one of those.

Just because LSU isn't ranked in your little list doesn't mean it's a bad school. Why do you even care? LSU is a good school. Maybe not according to the criteria used in that ranking you listed, but it is a good school. You don't see anyone on here bashing your school or any other California schools, do you? No one even said that LSU is better than your school. You've repeatedly said that you don't know much about schools down here. If that's the case, leave this thread and let us LSU fans and others talk about the football game, which is why the OP started this thread in the first place!

GEAUX TIGERS!!! I'm sending my love out from Baton Rouge, LA!! I'm a student at LSU and it makes me SO excited when I go somehwere like WDW where there are people from all over and I spot SO MANY Tiger fans!! I will be arriving on 12/ 29 and staying at the GF with my family...and although I will be hitting the parks that day, I will definately try to sneak back to catch the game! Who cares what happened last week...everyone knows the Tigers are No. 1 and 2006 will be our year...and you can take that to the bank!

Sorry...I had to take a moment to respond to a very mean poster who thinks getting As at some schools is easier than others. Definately wrong. I should know...I am a student at LSU...which is a VERY good school according to anyone's academic lists and football lists. Perhaps you should get your facts straight before posting on a football thread. We Tiger fans love our football. The fact the we have so much pride in our schools and our teams is enough for anyone to see why everyone goes crazy for LSU. I do not know what school you go to...but here at LSU..we bleed purple and gold.
