Heading for a trip to DVC HHI resort early June for 6 nights and the kids as asking (over and over again) for bikes to ride this time. Can anyone suggest lowest price bike rental company that will also deliver?

Thanks

am wondering about this too...

Does Disney's resort rent bikes? are they just expensive so people rent from outside companies? Can't imagine they don't rent them onsite but also can't imagine them being the most competitively priced, either!

I don't have any of the books any more, but when you go to a drug store or restaurant on HHI, you can get a book that advertises companies on the island. There are lots of places that rent bikes. Disney also does for length of stay, it was easier for us to do it that way, but it wasn't the cheapest by far.

Thanks! I kind of wanted to line it up prior to leaving home, so they can be delivered upon check-in.. the planner in me won't allow me to wait till we stumble upon a rental place.

I'm going to do some research & post my findings for anybody interested. :thumbsup2

We are headed to DVC HHI for a week on the 24th of this month, I called the resort and the rec center on property rents bikes. The weekly rate is $30.

I called around and found a local vendor, patriot bike rentals that will deliver and pickup for $20.00+tax per bike for a weekly rental. I got a slight discount since I reserved 5 bikes, $19.50+tax per bike. Baskets and helmets are included in the price, if desired.

They have a website, you can google for it.

Hope this helps.

We have always just rented them from Disney. I am sure there is a cheaper place with better bikes, but we love the convenience. If there is a problem, then they can fix it or give you a new bike immediately.

We will visiting in April for the first time. If we rent bikes from an outside company where do you store them?

Our March visit will also be our first. I failed to mention that locks also come with the bikes. I can not verify this but I have faith there will be a bicycle rack near our building that we can lock up the bikes when not in use. I was told that when out and about to be sure to lock up your bikes because there are people that "will" borrow your bike for their transportation.

We've used Pedals on Pope. I know there's a rental company in Palmetto dunes as well. I'd likely just use DVC though.

thanks for the tip on that company- please let me know when you return how the expreience was with them... the price is great! I emailed DVC the other day and they said for our visit in June it would be $35 per week, so $20 per week is a lot better!

We just go back from HHI....yes, bike rentals at the resort are $20 for a day or $35 for length of stay. Patriot was very easy to work with, I called early Sunday morning to let them know that I was at the resort(I had reserved bikes the week before) and ready for delivery and they show within 45 minutes and dropped off the bikes, locks, baskets, no problem. I asked and was told to leave the bikes lock up in front of our building and they would come by and pick them up on our departure day.

The bikes look very new and were your typical cruiser one speed bike. The Disney rental bikes were bascially the same style with maybe a little wider seat and foam padding on the handle bars versus the bikes from Patriot.

One thing I did notice was the number to call if I incountered a problem was different than Patriot's main number and the delivery man told me, the owner of the company had six different locations on the island under different names and that was the number to call if we needed service....interesting.

There were plenty of bike racks on property...each building had at least one and serveral racks were located at the pool area.

We did ride to the beach house on our first day there and made several other little trips around, but we did not ride nearly as much as I thought we would.

Also, I do recommend the Sea Shack for seafood, if you have to wait in line, it is worth it (we ate there twice). I do recommend, One Hot Mama, good BBQ and fried chicken. We also ate at Kingfisher', just across the bridge from the resort which was nice also.

We also went to Savannah on the last day of our trip, I wish we would have went earlier in the week, we would have went again. We had lunch at Mrs. Wilkes, which I highly recommend. A line form early, it would not hurt to get there around 10:15 to get in line. Also, we took the Old Savannah tour bus around town and learned alot about the history of the city.

Wow $20 per day or $20 for the week, well that's a no brainer. We arrive on Friday, I'm going to see if I can still rent them.
