Lowest Crowd Level Week 2017

Took my family (4yo/1yo) to WDW for the first time last year - the week after labor day (BLT/AKL). Thanks to this board and lots of other resarch, the vacation was amazing and the longest wait for any ride was for the MK train (10 min).

We are going to go back this year with my sister and her 4 yo and were planning on the exact same week. While I'd love to experience F&W and/or MNSSHP, our main focus is low crowds/ride waits (will have a 2, 4, and 5 y/o plus 2 GMs).

Give the announcement of the 2017 F&W dates and the earlier starts to MNSSHP, what is the consensus for the lowest estimated crowd week of 2017. I'm thinking last week of August, but would love to get some opinions before making a decision on whether to wait till 7 month window for BLT DVC. Can't really go in Jan/Feb although the "lowest" week might shift to then (vs anything late summer).

Thanks everyone

We have friends who went the week after Labor Day (this year) who told us after getting off a ride they could get right back on. I think it's the best week if you don't mind the heat.

I think the difference between general low crowds and lowest crowd week of the year is negligible but the difference that beautiful weather will make in that comparison is huge. I'd go during a low crowd time with better weather than around Labor Day. Just something to consider.

We're from Memphis, so very used to hot/humid. It was def hot this labor day, but we just did early/late 3-4 hour increments with breaks/pool midday. Not sure how comparable other weeks are, but this past week after labor day was amazing. Example: Thurs night at DHS we arrived at 6pm and rode TTx2, RRC x2, TSM x4 (just kept getting FP+) and still caught the 8:30 Fantasmic. My biggest concern in 2017 is the rise in crowds due to early F&W. Sounds like you guys don't think that will raise the crowds that much (and we'd get to experience F&W and maybe MNSSHP). Last year was able to wait till 7 months to book DVC at BLT - hoping that still holds true as well.

We are going the last week of September next year but I read recently that Food and Wine will start in August in 2017. I wonder what effect that will have on the crowd levels.

Why do you think MNSSHP will earlier than usual?

Definitely the week after Labor Day. End of Aug gets tons of people from the northeast, the midwest and tons of Canadians. They all start the week after Labor Day. There really is no way to avoid crowds anymore, it's either crowded or really crowded.

well not thinking MNSSHP will be earlier than this year (but thought this years were considered "early" - Sept. 2). More just referencing the fact that week after Labor Day next year will likely have 2 MNSSHP and F&W. Just makes me nervous that we will not be able to get 7 month BLT. But I think we'll prob try for after Labor Day week (booking in Feb) and if no availability, then consider backing up the week into Aug. or week after in Sept.

really a complete shot in the dark 7 months in advance anyway (esp given Pandora opening or delay) which could likely swing crowds wildly. somewhat nice about renting DVC is you know you are locked in and they can change whatever they want - you are going.

Thanks! We have been debating going the week of Labor Day or the week of Columbus Day. I know Columbus Day will be a lot more crowded, but the kids are on school break, so missing no school vs missing 4 days. Plus we are going over 4th of July, so we would be back in just two months (as opposed to 3....It's DH math lol).

This chart also.
