Has anyone ever used Lowe's for new carpet and flooring? I would like to save up and purchase scrip to pay for it (in turn helping to pay my kids' tuition for school!) but I want to make sure they do a good job. Any thoughts? Thanks!

We have used them several times. They always have a lower price than "carpet stores." They contract the install out to local people. I guess that is where it can become hit or miss. Like I said, we have always had good luck.

We used Lowe's to put new carpet in our house before putting it on the market. We did the whole house (200sq ft) minus the bathrooms, kitchen and dining room, but including the stairs, 4 bedrooms, loft, family and living rooms. The crew came a few days before and told us what they wouldn't move (DH 62"LCD, and fish tank) and that the stairs were extra (nbd to us). They moved all the other furniture out of every room ripped out the old carpet, repadded and carpeted, put the furniture back (how we wanted it) and cleaned up. I thought they were very professional and it was much cheaper for us because they were having a special for labor. I would use them again.

They are not hit or miss. They only use the best. If you have a job done and are not happy you call and it will be fixed. They will check up on the complaint Lowe's has dropped contractors who do not work up to their standards. Each and every job is graded by the store. Store Managers want nothing but good feedback, each and every quarter every Lowe's is evaluated.

I SECOND this! DH works in the Lowe's flooring dept. and this sounds exactly like their store's policy. DH has commented about one local installer they dropped. Also, Lowe's will price match or go lower if your bring in an ad or another price quote. They are really good about trying to do everything to please the customer. My husband installed flooring for 10 years and now has sold it for Lowe's for three years. He comments all the time about their high standards.

In my opinion, they are definitely hit and miss.
We haven't gotten our carpet installed yet but so far DH and I are pretty highly annoyed with the guy. The experience where he came to detail the house left us a little  and now...
He called us at 9:30 am yesterday (ugh, it's my Saturday off, can't I sleep in? :rotfl: ) and basically said we needed to pick a date then. We told him we couldn't, as one of us would need to take a day off of work, and we'd get back to him. It didn't help that we were half asleep and laying in bed. I mean, it was Valentine's Day. :rolleyes1

Anyway, he said "Well, I might not be able to make it, I don't really set appointments, I just need a day you guys would be able to do it. How about February 26th? I should be good that day.."
I was like... Uh. We'll call you back.

I plan on calling him back and letting him know if I take a day off of work to be there, he better be there. :sad2:

Too bad that the store near us wasn't like this when we had our roof done by Lowe's. It is a joke. Our shingles are crooked and we have had leaks (the roof was redone about 4 years ago and we have more problems then before starting a month after we had it done). The store manager told us that we would have to pay them to fix it. When we told them that we would call our lawyer, he told us to go ahead because Lowe's has a whole legal team that would crush our case. We eventually just starting paying another person to fix it. BTW, they still have the same roofing contractor and I have talked to others with the same problems. Hopefully, they have better carpet contractors!:thumbsup2

Our carpet job was a nightmare. They installed carpet that they said was 2 different shade pieces in my living room but I think they installed/cut it going the wrong direction so the nap made the colors look different. They did not clean up the pieces of carpet or vaccuum (they said theirs was broke) and I broke MY vaccuum then cleaning up the mess. They broke a tile in my foyer and when they came back to fix the carpet they broke a patio door shade. It took them 4 months and REPEATED phone calls to have them reimburse me for the curtain even though it was noted on our exit piece of paper when they left, and when they gave us a new vaccuum they then chased us out of the store because security thought we were stealing it (no one told them even though we asked as we were leaving to). I would not use them again although where you live you may have great people.

I saw you are just outside Cleveland. Are you talking about the Macedonia store? Read my story above...

Ours was the Ridge Rd store off of 480 (Parma area??). Maybe it is just the Ohio stores that are not so great? We have a new store near us in Fairview Park but I am scared to try them.:scared1:

Nothing but high praise and thumbs up for our local store and the subcontractors who put in our flooring and carpeting from Lowes. WE *love* them!!!
