Lower Back (Sacro Iliac) Pain

Sit and be fit. I'd put her on and just listen. Her voice is so soothing. I wasn't getting fit...but it was quite calming that I'm positive it helped lower my BP anyway.

:rotfl2:, that is ALWAYS a plus:goodvibes

Christine - sorry to hear you are having so much pain.

I have already had 3 back surgeries too. I always have pain. Usually I take tylenol, a warm/hot shower and always have dh give me a backrub.

Ds also just bought some chair massage heater pad thing for christmas and I havent tried it yet.

I have never done a chiro or done pt (except for the shoulder for the thy ca surgery). I dont think those would even have any effect on me.

Wishing you all the best and I hope the pain is manageable and that you heal soon.

Thanks!!

Funny you should mention the chair/heat massager thing.

Many years ago, when I had this before, as I said I had been to a chiro, was taking 600 mg Motrin all day, using heat, etc. Then one day, at work, as I was whining at my desk, my coworker told me to try his office chair heat/massager thing. By the end of the day, my pain was noticeably better and from that point on I was much improved.

Maybe it was a fluke, who knows. I've been sitting here with the Thermacare patch for DAYS and not getting better. But I did see the chair thing at Bed Bath and Beyond for $30 and I'm tempted to go get it.

Sorry Christine you are having back issues. I have degenerative disc disease along with Lyme disease so I am always having lower back problems. Seems when I walk on daily basis it does help. Also get huge knots down there that only massage therapy helps. Hope you can find a good chiro to help you out!

I have the exact same problem, only with the added fun of having two herniated discs thrown in.

I hate to tell you this, but I have seen 4 doctors, everything from neurosurgeon to orthopaedic to regular old internist, and they all tell me the same thing "Deal with it". I have taken the Medrol steroid dose packs which help for a few days, I have had the shots in my spine which work for a few months, but the pain always comes back.

The nerve pain seems to lessen, but the severe muscular pain has stayed around for over a year already. NOTHING I have tried has worked, so if anyone has any other suggestions, I am all ears.
By the way, I hate to see a chiropractor because my insurance won't cover it, and I had a horrible experience with one in the past.

Walking. Walking helps me with the muscular pain and also keeps my hips joints loose as that whole area tends to get stiff. It will hurt worse at first, but start off slow and try to walk everyday. It has helped me a lot.

Boy, do I identify with your pain! Two things help me-sometimes. It seems to help if I alternate heat and cold. I use an ice pack for about 20 minutes, then a heating pad for the same time. Repeat a few times. Also, I swear by Icy-Hot back patches in the XL size.
And I bought this really neat thing for my lower back that I sometimes wear around the house. You put it in the microwave for about 1 minute 15 seconds, sort of like a "bed buddy" for your back. But what's really neat is that it has ties so you can just tie it on around your lower back, then go about your business at home (it's definitely too thick to wear out). I bought it at amazon for around $20.

Op, I went to a chiro, and he gave me a sacroiliac belt to wear when mine acts up. it really helps stabilize the SI joint, especially when you're walking. It needs to fit down on your pelvis, not up on your waist like you may see in some pictures on the web. Googe sacroiliac belt, and you will find lots of links. Mine is just a white belt w/ velco.
