Low-grade fever

I hate to be one of those people who asks the DIS medical questions, but this really isn't a huge deal- just one of those little things that is a bit odd-

On Friday, I got out of work a bit early. I hadn't eaten lunch, so I came home and made myself a bagel and cream cheese before taking a nap. I woke up 45 mins later and had to go throw up. I felt fine besides that, just a big weak afterward since I'd been so hungry before eating the bagel that didn't stay down. I took my temp, and it was 99.1- not super high, but as far as I know not normal. That said, I don't generally take my temperature when I'm feeling well, so I'm not 100% sure what normal for me is.

Since then my temperature has stayed about the same. I feel ok, a bit tired but I worked a 13 hr tough work day yesterday, so that could have to do with that more than anything medical.

I still don't know if there was something about that lunch that didn't sit well (which would be weird since I didn't eat anything exotic), or if I've got some sort of mild bug or something. I don't have a high fever, but it is higher than it should be.

Any ideas about what could be going on? It's making me wonder more than anything else!

I had something VERY similar last week. I just felt week, tired, had the low grade fever for about 5 days. It did go away on it's own. Thank Goodness.

Hope you feel better soon.

I guess if I'm going to catch something, I'd rather it be this than the mega-cold my boss has!

You could have a low-level virus; however, I will tell you that it is quite normal for a woman to have a temp over 99 during the second half of the menstrual cycle. After you ovulate, your temp can be anywhere around 99.2 during those last two weeks. If you never check your temperature, you'd never know, but if you've ever done any basal body temp. monitoring you would be surprised.

Interesting- is this true even if a person is on hormonal birth control?

Not sure how it works but I will tell you that when I was on Mircette, my body temp was always around 99.2. Had something to do with the higher levels of progesterone. I guess it would depend on the pill you are on. Progesterone = higher body temp.

A 1 degree F variation is considered normal, so 97.6 - 99.6. 99.1 would not be considered a low grade fever unless YOUR average normal temperature is below 97.6.

My "normal" temperature is lower than average, so I feel sicker at 100 degrees than other people might. I start hallucinating at 101+ (I've only run a fever that high twice in my adult life, fortunately. Once almost 40 years ago, and once with a bout of mastitis; I very rarely get sick. ;) )
