Anyone out there try to eat low-carb or Atkin's Diet regimen at the Magic Kingdom "Crystal Palace Restaurant"?

What was your experience?

I am trying to list one restaurant per thread and talk about low-carb eating at that particular restaurant.

A lot of us on the DIS W.I.S.H.(We're Inspired to Stay Healthy) forum are trying to eat low-carb or Atkin's Diet at Walt Disney World.

I will list some of the low-carb foods from the menu below. I can add or subtract the foods as we learn more about the hidden carbs. Maybe we can even add the nutrient values to each food. You can use the links below to research the whole menu. Who wants to start?

August 11, 2003, Monday, 7:0 P.M.

I had arrived to the WDW Magic Kingdom Crystal Palace restaurant a little early, but the Castmember offered to seat me right away. I entered the dining doors and saw the buffet directly ahead with duplicate buffets and dining areas on the left and right sides.

I was led to the right dining area and seated at a two seat table with many other tables surrounding a huge, round, center, cushioned seating thing filled with plants. Above this was a beautiful, glass, round-vaulted-type ceiling.

My Castmember waiter, Jack, had my priority seating note stating that I had a diet restriction listed as other. He asked me what I needed and I told him that was on an Atkin's Diet and that I didn't want to eat sugar, bread, rice, carbs, etc..

He suggested getting one of the meats on my salad plate and ask the server was in the salad dressing. I choose the fresh greens, cheeses and ranch dressing which I was told is the regular Hidden Valley Ranch brand and I chose the slow-roasted pork for the meat. Very good. I drank water and Diet Coca Cola.

On my second trip to the buffet, I chose handcarved Roast turkey breast, and prime rib of beef with horsradish sauce. For vegetables, they had some great grilled summer squash, cucumber, green beans, artichoke hearts, and asparagus. All very good anf filling.

They also had peel and eat shimp, praised kale with bacon, anchive chili rubbed salmon, but I didn't try that.

They didn't have anything for dessert, but I was very full and ready to find tour MK.

This was a very nice dinner and better selection than MGM Hollywood and Vine restaurant.

And I chose a few bite size melon and papaya for fruit.
