This was suggested by a poster on another thread. What are so low carb alternatives that you like to eat in your diet that taste good!

I use happyforks.com to analyze recipes that I have lightened carb wise.

Here are a ton of recipes from Blue Diamond Almond Flour http://recipes.bdingredients.com/all-recipes/
The Double Chocolate brownies are yummy and I substitute in equal amonds granulated stevia and stevia with brown sugar. I also add 3/4 c flax seed. In addition I cut the amount of chocolate from 4 oz to 3 oz. You might want to gradually work up to 3/4 c flax seed. These are cut into 32 pieces which seems small but the taste is big. I get it down to 8 carbs. I leave out the sliced almonds b/c the flax imparts a nutty taste.

cauliflower can be a decent replacement for rice, pizza crust, etc. if done right.

I made Autoimmune protocol 'nomato' sauce last week. Tomato sauce taste without the tomatoes- uses celery, beets, carrots, onion, garlic, Italian seasonings.

Served over sauteed chopped zucchini and yellow squash with a sprinkle of cheese. Was delicious!

Tonight was sauteed shrimp in garlic served over a bed of wilted kale with a splash of orange juice with a chopped bagged kale/cabbage salad with onion dressing on the side. Also delicious!

Dd made almond flour biscuits Sunday. They were good with butter and jam.

I'm not low carb but last year I got into roasting cauliflower rice and using that to get another veggie into our dinner meals. Tasty and a good alternative to rice IMHO.

Love cabbage lasagna. Just sub chopped cabbage for the noodles. It is not really layered, meat & sauce & cabbage cooked together with a ricotta topping.
And fried turnips or radishes instead of potatoes.

When I want something along the lines of ice cream, I mix a tub of cool whip and 3 tablespoons of PB chocolate powder and spoon it into cupcake liners and freeze.

Used Banza Chicpea rice last night to make the rice you get in a Mexican restaurant. Cooked the 'rice' in chicken stock using Better Than Bullion, then strained but did not rinse added tbs tomato paste, spritz of olive oil and fresh salsa. IT was very good.

Pork rinds instead of chips. My husband uses them with salsa instead of Scoops.

Jimmy Dean is also making eggwiches, instead of a bread they use eggs, He likes them.

There is a recipe on the back of the Bob's Red Mill Nutritional Yeast bag for crackers which are really good. I have experimented with adding Mrs. Dash Garlic and Herb as well as sub-ing flavored olive oil for the coconut oil in it. These are good and depending on how many you make very low carb. I think they are less than 1 carb per cracker but very filling.

You can lose weight fast with no carbs but the diet is not sustainable, we have been doing weight watchers which you can do totally online, you do not lose as fast but the food choices seem much better

Many do low carb because they cannot have gluten or grains because these foods inflame chronic health disorders and can be life threatening. Not for weight loss.

So much of our modern food and has been altered and our soils have been depleted and contaminated by chemicals that millions of people are becoming sick because of what we eat, drink and the environment around us.

Modifying the diet is now for some a life or death situation. Not weight loss.

I'll have to try this. I have Oral Allergy Syndrome, in which I'm allergic to many raw fruits & some veggies. It actually stems from being allergic to a lot of trees. As fruits grow on trees, I end up allergic to the fruit. I CAN have them cooked, heated, boiled, baked, etc., as the heat breaks down some protein or enzyme in them, so I can eat them.

However, it still is best to stay away from the fruit as the allergy can turn anaphylactic at any time. I haven't been able to eat much tomato sauce because of that. I miss my Barilla high protein pasta with meat sauce. :( I'll have to see if this is a good tomato sauce substitute for me. :)

Do you have a good recipe? Or is there a good a jarred one?

The new Weight Watchers program is a lot lower carb, higher protein and low fat. I'm not doing WW. I can't stand all the counting of points. :headache: I'm doing my own modified version, (borrowing recipes & suggestions, making better food choices,) and am down 2 pants belt holes since Feb. (I don't own a scale.) I think that's about 2 inches all around. I've surfed many WW blogs and have found some good recipes.

If you have a Trader Joe's near you, there are a couple blogs & Pinterest posts that list the many low carb options.

I make pizza using TJ's low-fat mozzarella cheese, (it's real cheese not some plastic junk :p ) TJ's pizza sauce and a low-fat, low-carb flatbread for a crispy crust. One can also substitute a cauliflower crust.

This is really similar to the one that I followed-the one I followed used a splash of wine and no olives. This is a really good recipe. My pasta loving 22 year old son was home and said "tastes like spaghetti sauce".
https://thecuriouscoconut.com/blog/the-best-no-mato-sauce-autoimmune-paleo-marinara
I made it one night and then used a cup of the sauce-it was really thick-to add to the sauteed vegetables with ground beef the next night. I froze the remainder of the sauce-made about 6 cups for me-and look forward to using it again.

I also eat a lot of "clean" salads. I don't eat a salad the size of a small, side salad bowl. A salad is the main entree for me. I make a "big salad." I got the idea from Elaine, on Seinfeld, when they had gone to a new diner and she had asked for a "big salad." When they didn't have one, she had the waitress bring 3 side salads and put it in a big bowl for her.

I use about 1/4 to 1/3 of a bag of pre-packaged lettuce. (My favorites are spring mix or romaine or an arugula mix.) I then load the top of mine with a huge variety of items. I change them out, so I am never bored. And it is very filling! I've found THAT is the secret to eating salads. Don't eat bird size portions. Then one will always feel still hungry and deprived and over-eat other foods throughout the day. I eat one "big salad" a day. I eat more lettuce than rabbits do. 🐇 It's the toppings that stop it from being so bland and boring. And make sure to use low-fat dressings and only put on as little as you can get away with for flavor. A lot of the fat & calories in a salad can come from the dressings!

The Panera salad menu has a lot of good suggestions for toppings.

https://delivery.panerabread.com/menu/category/22

And if you have a Whole Foods which has a good salad bar, use that for suggestions of toppings.

I use (not all at once):

Proteins:
canned chick peas

canned white beans or canned pinto beans. (Rinse well. Each of these are rather neutral in flavor and will take on the flavor of the salad dressing. :thumbsup2 )

low-fat cheeses: shredded mozzarella, cheddar, feta, bleu cheese, grated Parmesan

slivered almonds
cashews
sunflower seeds
flaxseed

grilled chicken
shrimp
sliced cold pork (chop) or lamb (chop)
canned tuna in water
grilled salmon
hard boiled eggs

quinoa (it is a grain that is a complete protein)
Barilla Protein Plus pasta

Veggie toppings:
canned beets
canned corn
canned artichokes in water
hearts of palm
cucumbers
carrots
celery
eggplant
broccoli
cauliflower
broccoli rabe
kale
diced sweet potato
Mandarin orange slices
pineapple
strawberries

A GOOD flavored olive oil. I get mine from a specialty store that lets me sample taste the different olive oils. This olive oil has made such a difference by adding some flavor. I often skip a salad dressing as the olive oil is enough flavor. I also sprinkle on some oregano, basil & parsley. Sometimes also dill weed.

Notice: there isn't a single processed carb on that list, except the Barilla Protein Plus pasta - which is a higher protein pasta. Sometimes I will take a few Caesar salad croutons, crush them up and sprinkle them on, like herbs, for a boost of flavor, instead of leaving the croutons in cubes, especially if I'm only drizzling on olive oil & vinegar or lemon juice.

That article mentions leaky-gut syndrome. :thumbsup2 Celiac people aren't the only ones who may have leaky-gut. People with thyroid problems and my aforementioned, Oral Allergy Syndrome may have it too.

Has anyone tried Tomaraus (sp) wraps? They are super low carb 4 carbs in one wrap (multi grain) where as a slice of bread is 15 carbs . If you live near a Market Basket (Ma and NH) they are on sale this week. My sister makes enchaladas out of them as well as tacos and pizzas. The size of the wrap is the size of a regular size pita bread. I love them for a sandwich with lots of veggies. It is also good to cut one in twelve pieces and then sprat with olive oil and crisp in the oven to eat with salsa. I can also make taco salad shells out of them by spraying an oven safe bowl , putting the wrap and and baking at 350 till crisp. I cannot give exact times b/c I am not one of those people who cooks with recipes per se I kind of wing it.

Research is coming out to say that a lot of what's wrong with us today is due to leaky gut.

Everything one can imagine is now being tied back to the health of our gut.

I follow several Facebook sites for these things as well as my own functional medicine doctors.

Have had Hashimoto's for 40 years. Medical doctors could never get me right until I started seeing a functional medicine doc 5 years ago. Never felt better in my life.

Lunch today is leftover sauteed shrimp over sauteed kale with a side of coleslaw and kale salad with a light onion dressing. Maybe watermelon chunks of I'm still hungry for dessert.

Yes, I love their wraps, the sun dried tomato basil one is my favorite.
I make my own chips too, sometimes I bake and sometimes I put them in the baby deep fryer.
I think I'm going to start using my air fryer for them from now on.
