We were there for 4 nights 10/25 thru 10/29. I was really impressed with this resort. My 2 bedroom kidsuite was great. The rooms were clean, the beds comfy. Plus, we had much needed space. The kids had their own room. DH was able to watch what he wanted to on the TV in the living room area, while I took a nap in the bedroom.

The great thing about this hotel was the kids were happy just to play in the waterpark area. So there was no rush to go anywhere. So us adults got some much needed time to have drinks by the pool.

I paid $149 per night (Thur & Sun) $169 (Fri & Sat) This was a travel zoo rate.
We only planned 1 theme park visit during this time. Then we transfered to Disney for 5 nights. It is a very different type of vacation at the Nick hotel. It was nice being outside of Disney World for a change. We got to enjoy the many nice restaurants and shopping in the Orlando area. The down fall to The Nick hotel is the food choices, it's mostly pizza, burgers and other kid friendly things. All the more reason to explore Orlando. I would suggest renting a car.

Now I am starting to plan next years vacation. If I can get a good rate, I will book the whole stay at the Nick hotel. We will just drive to the themeparks everyday. The comfort of the big suite makes up for not being inside Disney.

I am really impressed with this hotel. But, be prepared, it is noisey.

I'm glad to hear the hotel is so nice. We're going in Feb. For the 1st 7 nights we'll be at AKV (me, DH, DS (8) ) but on night number 8 (our last) we're going to the NickHotel. My DS really wanted to go there and we thought it would be nice and relaxing to just stay by their waterpark pools. Glad to hear how good it was.:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

It was nice, the best part is that the kids can have a good time hanging by the play area/pool, and you can sit back and relax knowing that you don't have to go anywhere. You can enjoy the drink of the day while the kids play!

There were standard chains like Red Lobster & outback, along with many independant restaurants that we didn't get a chance to try. I think you would need a car though as I didn't see anything within walking distance.

I was just wondering about the evening shows?

Does anyone know a schd. of the shows and whether or not we would be allowed to attend more then one per evening??

Thank you

That's good to hear!!

We staying there in a few days (11/14-11/16) :woohoo:. I thought I better book a few nights before my kids are too old to enjoy the hotel. They've been begging me to stay there ever since it opened.

I haven't told them we're going yet so they should be excited!!

Thanks so much for the info. Looks like a ton of fun.

do you know if you are allowed to go to more then one show and what the shows are??

I think you can go to as many shows as you like. Some are pricey. The Nick show I went to was 2 families competing against each other. The Dad of the losing family got a pie in the face. It was an okay show. This was the only inside show we went to. My kids did make crafts, and we tryed to attend the outside shows. My kids really wanted to be at the water park area outside. They loved it.

My kids really had a good time at the pool party with the DJ. All of the kids were dancing! It was fun to watch them.

Any recomendations for food near the hotel?

Cracker Barrel is always great.

Steak and Shake over by DTD has - you guessed it - great shakes and hamburgers.

We don't have either chain in California. So, they're both on our must eat lists.

Thanks for the info. We are staying there 3 nights and moving to Wilderness lodge for 4 nights. I was worried it would not work out but you seem to have enjoyed it. We will have a rental car and do plan to do Universal and Sea World. Do the 2 bedroom suites have kitchenettes?

Yes, my 2BD suite had a small area with a sink, cabinets, a small fridge with a working small freezer section, a microwave and a table with 2 chairs.

I was really worried after I read some bad reviews. But the rooms were really nice. We got ours at a great price, so that helped too. The same type of suite inside of Disney would cost a fortune. The Nick hotel is right outside of Disney, an easy drive if you want to head to downtown Disney for Dinner one night.

Thanks for all the great info! Can you tell me about the in room coffee pots- how big, if coffee and cream are provided and if they have mugs in the room to use? I need my morning coffee before ANYTHING else!!!!!!!!!! thanks!

They have little 4 cup pots. They had 2 packs of reg & 1 decaf, plus powdered creamer, sugars and disposable cups. When the maid seen we were using the coffee on the first day, she left us extra of everything. The coffee marker looked new, and everything was very clean. Our made was very nice, she was a older middle aged Jamacian, I think. But as sweet as can be.I took pictures of the rooms, as I'll post them soon.

I'd love to see pictures of the rooms. We will be staying there in 4 days :woohoo: .

What character room did you receive. I'd like to see some of the other themes beside Spongebob & Jimmy Nuetron.

Thanks for your great review, deelam! We just booked two nights at the end of our vacation to surprise our kids and the next morning, I told DH about some of the horrible reviews I read. Your great experience has made me feel much better about keeping our ressies because I think the kids would really have a blast there! I was checking out Sheraton Safari and Holiday Inn Sunspree (because they have kid suites) but they can't compare to the Nick Hotel as far as "kid friendly" (who can compete with slime?!?!?!:rotfl: )

...and a 4 cup coffee pot w/ extra coffee packets doesn't hurt either! ;)

I would love to see your pics, too!

We are headed to the Nick Hotel for 2 nights at the end of of disney trip in 9 days. Can you tell me if both pools were open? When we were there last time only 1 pool was open.
