Stayed CL from 6/11 - 6/18 and it was amazing! Had a standard view, not the best, but not bad either.

The staff was amazing! The CL had actual meals in the evening not just appetizers. The staff would actually offer to give you something "to go" on your way out! Every dish was awesome! My DH is very picky and just enjoyed everything!

The atmosphere by the pool was wonderful as well. When showing your card to get your towels they would offer to set up your chair for you (they would use two towels to cover the chair and a third to roll down as a pillow). They also walked around at certain times of the day with complementary italian ice, fruit skewers, slushie samples or veggies. There was also someone walking around asking if you would like your wet towel replaced with a dry one. They also had a staff member walking around with spray sunscreen. The staff member noticed the lady sitting by the pool in front of my DH was getting a little pink on her shoulders and offered to spray her! My DH was amazed! In the lobby of the resort (I think sometime around 3??) they gave away free popcicles and fruit juice.

If anyone has any questions, just ask :thumbsup2

As you can tell, we were very impressed! Disney's Beach Club Resort will always be our "home", but this is certainly a close second!

Thank you for your report. We are going for 2 nights in club level in August and getting excited. I would love to have any more details you would like to share about the food in the lounge.

Glad you enjoyed your stay, RPR is an amazing place.:thumbsup2

Can't wait. We're going for a 4 night stay in August. Not club level but still, reading reports like this get me even more excited than I am already (if that's possible). I may spend most of my time lazing around the pool! I'm not as big a ride fan as my adult son and girlfriend who will be with hubby and I, so the pool sounds heavenly to me!!

Thanks for your report! The pool service sounds wonderful!

We are staying CL at the Portofino next week. I haven't seen detailed descriptions of the offerings in the lounge there, but I will certainly report back when I return.

How were the pool temps? Artic? Roman Bath or Ahhh, just right?

The food in the lounge was awesome! I have picky eaters and honestly there was something for everyone! I found this on another thread, very accurate!

7:30 to 10:00 AM
danishes, croissants, warm cinabuns w icing
hot oatmeal, cinnamon & brown sugar to add
cold cereal (to-go cups) Special K, Fruit loops, etc...
orange juice, apple juice, milk, water with lemon slices
tea (large variety), starbucks coffee, decaf (can make your own iced coffee )
fresh pineapple, grapes, strawberries, melon (orange, green, red)
bagels, cream cheese, toast, jam and peanut butter
one day there was english muffins

12:00 to 3:00
coffee, tea, water, apple juice
cold cans of coke, diet coke and sprite
bowls of trail mix, (plain) potato chips, mixed nuts (with small bowls to fill)
peanut butter and grape jelly uncrustables, granola bars
whole apples, oranges, bananas

4:30 to 6:30
beer: bud, bud lite, miller lite, corona
wine: red, white, rose (zinfindel)
coffee, tea, water, apple juice
cold cans of coke, diet coke and sprite
nacho chips, salsa (medium) and sour cream
1 cold salad varies each day: chinese chicken salad, southwest salad with corn and beans...
1 hot appetizer varies each day: sweet & sour chicken fingers with noodles, mahi mahi with rice, meatballs, empanadas, chicken marsala...
cut veggie tray: radishes, asparagus, bell peppers, etc...
cubed cheese tray: 3 kinds of cheese and grapes
cracker tray

8:00 to 9:00
coffee, tea, water, apple juice
cold cans of coke, diet coke and sprite
large cookies: macadamia, chocolate chip, m&m, oatmeal
2 other desserts varied each night: cheesecake, mousse cake, apple crumble tart, a fruit tart that was out of this world!

Everything was replenished often.

You can ask the staff for bottles of water (room temp).
You can request a tray to take food back to your room.

Believe it or not, we spent very little oop because my family liked the offerings so much. The chicken marsala was our favorite!

The staff was amazing. They cleared plates, offered to get your drinks, they were hustling the whole time! It was very clear that they took pride in giving great service.

We will definitely be back!

Hope this helps :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about your stay!

I asked my pool experts (DH & DS), and they said the pool temp was Ahhh, just right most of the day, by evening is was more Roman Bath! Orlando was setting records the week we were there. Was upper 90's and low 100's that week! We just took advantage of the water rides and the pool of course!

Have a wonderful time!

DisMom72, Thank you so much for all the information. It sounds great!

in all my stays at rph, i didn't know about the popsicles......

but then, i'm in the park at that time period usually.

it is nice to hear they had a great time at universal and especially at the hotel.

i truly adore the rph.

natebenma, I saw on the BC thread you mentioned that you have round trip transportation to and from airport to Universal for $80 plus tip. Can I ask which company you are gonna use? And DisMom72 thanks for the club level food listing. I too have picky kids and it looks like they may find things they like!

As our trip gets closer we are sooo excited but cautious at the same time...my husband works for a phone company and they may go on strike about 3-4 days before our trip. If they do we should reschedule our trip for a later time as I wouldn't feel comfortable spending thousands when we may need the money for everyday expenses without paychecks coming in. So, my fingers and toes are crossed that they settle without a strike or at least work through the negotiations.

Good luck with the negotiations! How scary!

We are using Ed Korgan for transportation from MCO to Portofino, $90 r/t. He has received decent recommendations on this site and was very responsive when I contacted him over the weekend. We have the quote for the PBR to CR r/t for our Magic Kingdom day, $80, it seems like the service will be flexible enough for us (He says we can contact him approx 45 minute before we want to be picked up from CR).

Google his name to get to his website.

I will be returning before your trip, so I can give you information about how it went when I get back.

stated on the website is you need to cancel 5 days out for a full refund.
in your situation, if you husband 's company goes on strike, call and see what UO can do to help you.

i'm sure they will work with you in this type of situation.

why don't you call now so you have one less thing to be worried about.

Thanks for the transportation guys name. I will google him and see what i can come up with. As for cancelling, I did ask when I called to book the room. They said I would lose the one nights deposit since that's all I paid for so far. I think they said I could request to change dates and apply that to a later date. I plan on purchasing an AP for myself but not until after we know for sure they don't go on strike. I think I can buy it online and pick it up at guest services/kiosk. I was gonna go thru the turnstiles to activate the AP and then come back out and purchase the multi- day tickets for my other 4 family members to get the 15% discount on their tickets.

I have learned sooooo much from these boards since this Universal is all new to us and can only offer my thanks here online.:flower3:

next time you call, ask to speak to a supervisor.
supervisors can make things happen based on individual's needs and situation.

you can make plans to not lose your deposit and have it transferred for a future date to your specific situation.

and get a name for future references when you rebook.....

Will do mcraven! I work in customer service myself so I know to get a name when doing anything over the phone...especially when it involves my money:thumbsup2

We'll be there for our first stay 6 weeks from today. I have a question. We are staying CL and the lounge appears to open at 7:30. Is it possible to have breakfast and still make it to early opening for WWoHP? The primary reason we are staying there is to take advantage of that extra hour.

Thanks!

We are doing the same as you but exactly 1 month from today. We are planning on being at club lounge at 7ish. I'm pretty sure I read that the lounge opens at 7 and the breakfast is set up for 7:30. Hubby will go for coffee and we will quick grab something and start walking for early opening. Wish there was more time...you would think they would open lounge a bit earlier!
