We had a chance to get away to HHI for a few days over the Memorial Day weekend and had an absolute blast! Not having been to HHI before, I wasn't sure what to expect other than I knew it would be a treat. DGF, DD (8mos) and I arrived on Thursday before Mem Day and checked in. We were in villa 2711 which was beautiful! We didn't need a 2 BR for just the three of us but when I called for the reservation, it was the only thing available (and I needed to use the points before June).

It was a short walk to the pool (about 200 feet) and yet we never really heard a peep. That also put us in close proximity to Broad Creek Mercantile and the snack bar. Our balcony looked out to the water with a view to the "pier". We spent a good part of the day on Friday at the Beach House and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves there. The pool set-up was wonderful and the CMs there were really great! Our time on the beach was wonderful and very relaxing. We did take some refuge early afternoon for the baby to nap and then returned later in the afternoon. We took the dolphin tour with Captain Scott on Saturday morning and had a great time! We saw several dolphins and got some great pictures. We also took some time to visit the Harbourtown Lighthouse and to see the rest of the island. Sunday morning's departure came way too soon...

In short, we were delighted with our stay and really felt as though we were "home"...there is no doubt that we will return!

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! We've been twice since we purchased our membership and we love the resort. The CMs are so friendly and helpful! We've been thinking about a WDW stay in 2012 but we might end up at HHI again! :)

Sounds like a great trip. Dh and I will be there without the kids in Oct and can't wait

Did you get to spend any time with B'Lou? We were there from Sunday to Friday and it was so funny, the kids took the activity guide and circled every activity that involved B'Lou Crabbe, he's their favorite part of a HHI DVC stay. Which reminds me, I need to send a letter....

ETA: Do I send an email to Member Satisfaction or does anyone have a snail mail address?

Your trip sounds wonderful! We're trying to pencil in a stay on HHI for next year, and I hope we can do it.

Bobbi:thumbsup2

We love HHI and DVC's resort so much it was the first DVC resort we purchased. Having 11 month booking in summer is critical, and we never had problems booking at WDW at 7 months. Since then we have bought into a resort at WDW, so we have the best of both worlds.

No, no, ickypoo! Didn't you really hate it?; (we've only got enough points for 1 11 month reservation a year, so we don't want the secret out too much!)
Where did you eat this trip? We also did the dolphin cruise, but the most exciting thing was seeing dolphins around the resort, "in the wild".

thanks everyone...it really was a great trip and we look forward to returning at least every other year.

Kim - we didn't get to see B'Lou - he was doing a welcome home on Sunday afternoon but we had to leave Sunday morning. Simba's mom - we dined in the villa except for breakfast (loved the egg sandwiches at the snack bar). Part of it was financial (tight budget right now) and part of it was not being familiar with the area. However, we learned a lot and we have several places we would like to dine on our next visit!

I am afraid that secret is definitely out. Do you remember how it used to be where no one mentioned HHI and it was like the evil step child of Disney. :lmao:

OP - Thanks for posting, we are contemplating VB or HH next year...

Does anyone think HH will be difficult to book the week after Easter (at 7 months)? Thanks!

Sounds like a great place. Glad you had a nice time.

We've been thinking about buying points at HHI. With reviews like this, it makes me even more certain that we want to do it. Thanks for the review!

We were at HHi from 5/29-6/3- loved it! We have been several times but this was our longest stay! Took the "Behind the scenes Tour" offered by the resort. Christa is a great cast member and gave us a look at some hidden mickeys as well the history of the resort. We met Robert Irvine at his restaurant EAT! wonderful tapas! Roastfish and cornbread was another great restaurant. Cast member Mike (who has been mentioned on these boards before) was very friendly and always ready to help with restaurant suggestions! the kids at the resort seemed to like him alot!

I was there the same time. I live in savannah so we dont lose point a just go to hhi 20 min away

DW and I are going to HHI for the first time (by ourselves) at the end of October. Any suggestions on where to eat, sights to see, activities to sign up for, etc. will be greatly appreciated.

I am so happy you had a great time in HH! :goodvibes This is our first summer off in 4 years- we started going our first year as DVC members because of all the love for HHI on the DIS- and I am SERIOUSLY sad we won't be going this summer. :sad1: (We're taking a cruise instead out of NJ)

Aaahhh well...absence makes the heart grow fonder, they say.....

It's a beautiful island with a Disney resort that has so much to offer! Can't wait to return!:thumbsup2
