First trip "home" late September. Loved everything about BCV, location, theming, furnishings, etc. Very happy with our purchase. One thing that, for us, was disappointing...counter service "restaurant". We're big fans of the meal plan, for our family it works very well. When we stayed at the Moderate resorts, the "food courts" or counter service "restaurants" had multiple selections, quite the variety, something for every taste. We found the BC Marketplace (I forgot the name) disappointing. Walked over to Boardwalk...same limited small choices. Ultimately we drove over to Port Orleans. I guess our heads are in the deluxe resorts, but our stomachs are in the moderates. :3dglasses

You realize you are a hop skip and a jump to Epcot!

Plenty of counter service there! ;)

Scratch, there's not as much counter service as you think, not with variety anyway. We ended up one day in "America"-burgers, chicken, fries, standard fare. But, for instance, at POR, the choices range from Chicken Ceasar Salad, Chili, Philly Cheese Steak, Taco Salads, etc. That's what we had been used to, just was surprised the deluxe resorts weren't as accomodating.

AKL has a nice variety for a deluxe resort but of course Mara is the only lunch option there. The other deluxe resorts have TS options for lunch and I think that is a big part of the equation. I'd rather have a TS option than a great food court personally.

However, on the DDP I think the Marketplace is extremely restrictive....more so than Mara, Gasparillas at the GF and Captain Cooks at the Polynesian. The side option is a bag of chips....no side salads or fruit salads allowed or even Chip and Dale pretzels. For dessert, the options are a cookie, a Mickey bar or a piece of fruit. At the other three, any of the desserts, pastries or D/P snack options are allowed.

Glad you enjoyed BCV otherwise. We love it too!

Thats not limited to BCV, other DVC's offer even less, like OKW.

WOW!

I've not stayed at POR and didn't realize what a nice variety!

I agree with the limited CS choices at BC & BW and wish they'd include Beaches & Cream with the CS places (although I realize the grill is far too small for this.) At BW we loved the bakery, but they didn't offer much in the way of CS meals when we visited there.

Do they include Leapin Libations or the bar at BC with the meal plan for CS?

I just got back from staying for free dining at All Star Music. I did not like the resort. I hated the location. But I really loved the food court. They had the best chicken Cesar salad I have ever eaten!

We are on the DDP this coming Dec while at VWL. My husband talks about driving over to All Star resorts for meals. No, I don't think so......not THAT good! Dixie Landings, maybe :thumbsup2 .

There's BC Marketplace. True, they don't have a big variety, but they have gelato, macaroon squares, and roast beef/brie sandwiches. Yum! One big reason I prefer BCV over BWV is it seems to me there's more counter serve choices at BCV. I've gone into Rip Tide Lounge and gotten a bowl of clam chowder. And of course, there's B&C. Also, like a previous poster said, you're right next to Epcot. I love Tangerine Cafe for counter serve.

Roaring Forks at the Wilderness Lodge has lots of great choices, pizza, burgers, salads. Check out the new menu on allearsnet.com. :)

Sad to say this is a problem limited to the Epcot area resorts that the other deluxe resorts do not suffer from. GF,Cont., Polynesian, WL and AKL all have very good counter service areas.

It is the greatest limitation to the YC/BC and BW and has been that way since they opened and there has been little done to correct it. I agree that the Marketplace was at best a minimal improvement.

This is one reason we really like SSR, Artist Pallette. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Looking forward to the new menu!

There is the little place out by Storm a Long Bay too. I don't remember the name. But they had Chicken strips. and a wrap sandwich. When we were there in May they counted as a counterservice meal on DDP. Still not a lot of choice but more than the marketplace alone.

We also go over to a moderate for counter service. We had great food at Carribbean Beach. Yummy chocolate cake.

The DVC resorts have kitchens. I think that's why counter service is limited.

CS at DVC is only limited at BCV and BW. OKW has a nice selection they just don't have a nice indoor seating area. All the other DVC resorts have a very nice CS area and good selection.

This was a problem with the YC/BC and BW from the very beginning prior to DVC at the BC.

Does anyone know if the pool bar at BWV is included in the dining plan?
If so, what do they serve. Can't find a menu for them.
Thanks

I think like everything else related to Disney, it is all about personal opinions and each person's likes and dislikes.
We just stayed at SSR in June and the one thing we DID NOt like was Artist Pallette! We found their food selections very, very limited, especially for lunch/dinner. The flat breads, wraps and salads were ok, but not for a whole trip. The hot selection of the day, always looked less than appealing, so we never even tried those.
We never have a problem eating at CS while at BCV or BWV. We love the CS restaurants in Moracco, Japan, US, UK, Germany, Norway's bakery, and France's bakery. We also enjoy the food court in the Land--great selection. If at the resorts, we enjoy Hurricane Hannahs, Boardwalk Bakery and the market place at BC. There is also a very nice food court Tubbis at the Dolphin. Not only are there many counter service dining options to the Epcot resorts--the variety of food choices is immense.
Sorry, but I definitely do not see any "limitations or problems" regarding available and varied counter service dining options at any of the Epcot resorts.
