Lovebugs Are Bad!

Be prepared if you are visiting WDW soon. The lovebugs this year are horrible. They are the thickest I've seen them in the two and half years I've lived in Orlando.

Thanks Peggy, We head down in less than two weeks. Since we'll be driving at night do you think they'll be better or worse. It's been a while since I've headed that way after dark, can't remember if it's better or ten times worse. Guess I'll make sure the car is washed, waxed really good and I have a thick coat of Rain-X on the windshield. DH is one to just continuously use the windshield washer, I can see it now, we arrive with a 6 inch coating of bug goo on the front glass!

Now I am scared to go to Orlando, can you believe it? I hate bugs especially bugs that swarm on you. There were green head flies at the Jersey Shore this summer and my DS was freaking out along with me. Please tell me they will be gone by next week.

I was just there this last weekend it was HORRIBLE!! I had to stop at the rest areas several times to wash them of my windshield b/c my rental ran out of washer fluid!

They were worse while driving back home to Miami than they were driving to Orlando. I drove to O-town at night so maybe they go away at night.

and oy animal kingdom wa just killer wth them, I mean they were bad everywhere but AK just seemed to be a bit worse.

I am not familiar with love bugs. Do they bother you while you are in the parks? Will bug spray work to keep them away?

they dont bite or anything, they jis just alot of them around and they seem to enjoy landing on you, or flying near you...Im not sure if bug spray would work

I have noticed the last two nights that they don't seem to be as bad as during the day. However, the warmer it gets, the worse they get. I am guessing they like the heat????

At least they are not biting bugs.

these are just plain annoying, like lots of flies- but stuck together..They don't bite. We noticed that they seem more attracted to lighter colors.
Don't worry they won't spoil your trip..

YES they're BAD this year, and seem to be worse in Orlando, seeing as I was at Disney on Tuesday and they were all over the monorail stations, on the ground, IN the monorails, etc.

But for those of you scared of bugs, they arent anything to really worry about, they hardly make any noise, they fly but are very slow, dont bite or sting. They can just become a mess on the front of a car or on the ground.

MINNIEBOWSER, they really like white so try to avoid wearing it. If you do wear it, be prepared for them to be attracted to you. They will not bite, but they will swarm you. I don't understand why they like white so much, but they do.

They annoy you flying around you, they'll annoy you when you have to scrub their dead bodies off your car - theyr just ANNOYING.

Imagine - flying along, in mid-air in "love" <nudge nudge - hint hint> and WHAM! ! ! ! getting squished by a car, while doing THAT.

For those of you who don't like bugs, I do not like them either. It has been a phobia for a long time. I have had many trips to WDW in May and the lovebugs have been around. For some reason these are not a big deal to me. Perhaps because they are preoccupied and I know they are not after ME.

Oy...those pictures made my stomach flip-flop!

My DH went to Wally World the other day and bought some ammo...wipes to store in your car that are specifially made for love bugs.

We drive down Saturday and are prepared for battle!

Plus, my mom bought my daughter and me matching Minnie shirts which are white. I have to wear them but am now freaked about being "the mother ship" for those bugs.

Ok well now I need to go through our bags again and see what we've packed that is white...Can't be too much though, 3 boys and white doesn't mix well...
Hopefully by the end of next week they'll have exhausted themselves and go away!!

Do you know the name of these wipes? I drove through a swarm back in May, and my car still has lots of bug goo embedded in it, it WILL not come off. And the car was new and shiny at the time, too. And I am driving down next week, too. Probably have to pay for a detailing when I get back. I doubt I have time to buy a nose protector thing for my car, and those things are very expensive. I hate love bugs. If you drive into a swarm, they CAN smear all over your entire windshield, and block you vision! They can be dangerous, unfortunately.
