Love the Face Your Fear Segment!

The only way I can ride RNRC is by singing along with the Aerosmith song.

Or actually screaming along with the Aerosmith songs.:guilty:

As for some of the Universal coasters, not with a ten foot pole nor the HHN. I have too much imagination. And it runs away with me. Last time I rode ToT, by the third drop, I was saying put me down on the ground I have had enough.

My feelings exactly! I have never had any problem with thrill rides anywhere. The bigger and badder, the better. But Halloween haunted houses/Halloween Horror Night? No way, no how!!! :scared1:

I subscribe to the theory that a ride is predictable. It will do what it is supposed to do, every time. It is well maintained (especially at WDW) and millions of riders have experienced it with no ill-effects (other than people with pre-existing conditions that shouldn't have ridden in the first place).

But a haunted house/trail/etc where people are jumping out at me and there is a chaotic atmosphere? Absolutely unpredictable. Anything could happen when humans are involved. And my HUGE phobia of death and dead bodies is really highlighted at a Halloween experience.

I thought about trying this year to "face my fears" like y'all, Kathy and Theresa- we have a Halloween Horror-type event at our local theme park and DD wants to go. But I just get sweaty and panicky even thinking about it- I think I'll have to be a weenie again this year.

I'm right there. I love the coasters in Orlando and ride them often, but my friends cannot get me to go to HHN with them. Someone jumping out in the dark and grabbing me? Oh, heck no!!

RnR is an amazingly smooth coaster, a much easier ride than Space IMHO. Same for Everest, much smoother ride.

I'm not a coaster person at all, and I avoid Splash Mountain and Space Mountain at all costs but oddly, I like Rock'n'Roller coaster.

I only ride when other people are doing it, and I find the less time I'm in line worrying the more I enjoy it, but I think the combination of the "shot out of a cannon" start and the darkness make it fun. It's also smooth and over really quickly. That's a ride that when I get off, I think, "yeah, that was totally exhilerating and fun. " I don't feel that way with any of the others.

I really, really dislike ToT. I've been on a handful of times and it just gets worse for me every time. I won't be doing that ever again.

Everest and Big Thunder I find less objectionable than Splash and Space Mountain but I don't love them either and only ride when others really want to.

I'm totally more of a TTA kind of girl.

My name is Jeff and I'm a roller coaster wimp.

But I got over my fear of the smaller ones at WDW. One solo (way before Val) trip I was in the MK really early. It was very empty and I took my accustom route through Adventure Land, stopping first for Jungle Cruise then POC which were both just walk-ons. Without letting myself think further about it I just continued on to Big Thunder and rode it with very little wait. Got off and was thrilled/amazed I had actually done it. Decided I was going to head straight across the park to Space Mountain and get that one conquered as well.

Amazing what you can accomplish if you (don't) think about it. :good vibes

However, tea cups will not be on my list. That's a serious cookie tosser for me. :scared1:

Now, see, I have always *LOVED* rollercoasters! Love, love, LOVED them! It's one of the really crappy things about getting older, that I no longer can ride all the rollercoasters like I used to be able to. Rockin'RollerCoaster is *great*, but the first time I rode it, I was not quite in the seat right, and it jerked me, and I could barely walk for the rest of the day. And jerky rollercoasters give me horrid headaches. The only rollercoaster that ever scared me was one at King's Island in Ohio, which is a *stand up* coaster. It was just the most disorienting thing, standing up while riding it. It's the only time riding a coaster, that if I could have stopped it & got off, I would have.

At Disneyland Paris, however, they seem to like their rollercoasters rough. RnRC left me disoriented. And Space Mountain, which is one of my all-time favorites, was HORRID at DLP! The second it took off, my head was being jerked back & forth & all over the place and I came off feeling ill & headachy. No fun. However, the new "Crush's Coaster" was smooth and a total blast!

The only Rollercoaster at WDW that I haven't done is Expedition Everest. The only chances I've had, I've been having back issues, so I didn't ride. I'm hoping to be able to do it this Dec during DAP. If it's smooth, I can do it... :thumbsup2

Now, spinny rides on the other hand... NO WAY!

Let us know when you 're ready for a GKTW donation for the ToT ride ... My favorite!

Great segment Kathy and Teresa.

I would urge you to NOT give up on "Space Mountain".

I think you guys must try it in Disneyland.

I do not like the ride in WDW but love it at Disneyland. Less jerky, much smoother, and better laid out. I promise you all "Space Mountains" are not built alike. It surprised me at how different the experience was and would also recommend the "Big Thunder Mountain" ride out in Disneyland.

Trust me, :thumbsup2

I thought it was funny/interesting that the Universal Halloween Horror Nights segement was right after Facing your Fears and Teresa was laughing and talking calmly about that. I have no problem with Space Mountain, but there is no way I would go to Halloween Horror Nights.

That's exactly what I was thinking! I've lived here 4 years now and still have not been brave enough to go to HHN!

Of course, now that I've heard the face your fears segment and the review, I'm thinking I might want to try it this year. I just need to find someone to walk in front of me as a shield like Teresa has with Max!

You can borrow Max.... He is such a good sport and hardly complained about his stretched out shirt;)

I totally agree with this! :thumbsup2 I much prefer the Space Mountain at Disneyland. And the one at Disneyland Paris is HORRID! Way worse than the one at WDW. When I went on the on at DLP, someone else was waiting for my impressions before deciding if she wanted to ride or not. I told her totally not to bother. It was really, really rough, and just no fun. I really miss the one in California!

I agree with you completely!!!!
I found it so funny that in the very same week, The team discussed how scary/wild/unpleasant they found Space Mountain, etc., but found dismembered bodies, chainsaw attacks and spurting blood at HHN enjoyable.

There is no rollercoaster (or any ride) on this planet that I will not ride. I love them all. I try to understand how people can be afraid of the drop on TOT and Splash Mountain, but I don't get it. Truly I don't. I don't say anything about it, because it's their business, they can ride/not ride what they want. But I fail to see anything remotely scary about them.

But clowns wielding chainsaws at me? Monsters screaming and jumping out at me? People being chopped up/blown up? I don't find it entertaining, funny, pleasant at all. And I don't even mind real blood/medical stuff, I just don't find it a source of entertainment.

I can't think of anything that would get me to go to something like that. I have Season Passes to Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens that would allow me to go to their Halloween events for no extra cost, but there is no way I would. I even have to look away from their comercials! So I guess I am a wimp! Guess there is something for everyone!

I think the difference for me is that Halloween Horror nights I know I am not going to get hurt. Roller coasters and such make me feel like I might get hurt by falling off or getting stuck, or the cars flying off of the tracks
