Since I had DD and had to wear a bathing suit post baby, I have splurged on one good Lands End suit for the summer season. It is always a tankini w/a little skirt bottom and top that attempts to hide things in all the right places. This summer has been so hot and we have been at the pool at the Y or my parents at least 4-5 times a week. The LE suit I bought in early May was awesome. However, I did lose a few pounds in May/June to make the top a little looser than I'd like (especially in the cleavage area) and now w/a lot of wearing, I was just ready for a new suit to end summer with.

I looked everywhere and finally found my dream suit at, of all places, Wal-Mart! They are actually one of the few stores that has a nice selection that aren't all bikini's or random left over pieces. I found a Faded Glory suit w/tummy control...black with different colored dot patterns for $30! I'm tall so it fits my whole torso w/o creeping up and rises high in the back to "conceal" everything. I thought this was a pretty good price. If LE would've had the top that I currently have in the smaller size I need, it would've been $34 just for the top. Someone else on here mentioned a nice swimsuit site, and the cheapest one I sorta liked on there was $44.

I might even go back an buy another one for winter. I know we will be in the pool at least 2-3 times a week this winter at the Y and I really want to get back into water aerobics.

So if you're looking for a decent inexpensive suit to end summer with, try Wal-Mart!

I'm glad you were able to find a bathing suit that you like.

I found a great Catalina one piece there too. Very flattering, I thought!

I agree. . .I found a very cute $30 one there this year. I noticed the girl and teen ones were marked down last time I was there. I wanted to get my youngest a new one, but couldn't find the one we liked in her size. :( I might try a different Walmart. And congrats on finding one you like. . .that can be so hard sometimes!

Hi,

I wanted to mention some great deals I find on Victoria's Secret swimsuits.
MJRsales.com ( they also have a store on ebay) has tons of VS separates for around 4.99. They sell the overstock and catalog returns. It's a little more work to search for the sizes but it is worth it. Sometimes the run free shipping specials or discounted shipping. They also sell VS and other clothing and shoes.

I needed a new swimsuit this summer and checked out our Walmart too. I came home with two that I LOVE !! They are both one pieces. One is a Catalina brand with a built in sarong and tummy control. It was $30. I can't remember the brand of the other one, but it was only $14. They both fit wonderfully and for the price they couldn't be beat :thumbsup2. I saw one suit at Macy's that I liked, but it was $82 :scared1: and there was no way I could justify that price .

I had my Catalina one piece black suit for 6 years and some polyester board shorts from Walmart also that I've had many years. This year the suit is wearing out in the straps. They are connected but the under layer that is stretchy has snapped so its not quite as umm supportive. I put a saftey pin in to get me through the summer. Next year I will need a new one but refuse to buy one as I'm working on weight loss. I want to get a 2 piece tankini style with skirt bottom(if possible) so I will check for this next year.

I'm gonna have to pick up a new one, when the clearance out, for next year. She has one my dad and step mom got her last summer but its size 8 and too big, STILL. It was a clearance item, I think. They shop for the grandkids when they are out and see stuff. It wasn't really something I could exchange sizes on. So I just kept it. She tried it on though the other day its still very loose on the bottom and top is quite big yet even if I could sew in some darts I'm afraid she'd lose her bottoms. Maybe she will grow into it by next summer. lol But I like to have 2-3 suits for her. She is not diligent about hanging them to dry or loses a piece in her room so nice to have 2-3 options.

I chanced it and bought a maternity swimsuit from walmart online. First one I tried on and I loved it too! Price was fantastic!

I'm going to check that out for our Dec. trip. I'm definitely giong to need some tummy control, that's for sure. Can't beat the price, either! DH is going to look at me like I have 8 heads, but I don't want to wear my maternity suit (bleccch) and I don't think at 3mos PP I'm going to be able to wear my normal suit, and I sure as heck don't want to look for bathing suits in December!

Thanks for posting this. I'm in the market for a new suit myself and would have never thought to check out Walmart.

Thanks!

That's awesome! I have such a hard time finding suits that fit me right. I need something with a lot of support up top. Underwire and adjustable straps are a MUST. Those kind are hard to find for a decent price.

I have suit that I ADORE from Kazwear (Canadian) that I treat like a baby because it was very expensive. I despise wearing my back up swimsuit because I feel like I could trip over the "girls" when I'm walking because they have no support

I also got a $30 suit suit at Walmart after looking at some that were $100+. I actually found two I liked, one was Catalina and the other White Stag. The interesting thing about those brands is that they were high-end when I was a teen.

I always purchase my bathing suits from WalMart. I just can't justify paying $100 for one. I have always been pleased and find that they have a great selection. I also buy the kids swim trunks there. I think I paid $8 a piece for the kids swim trunks that look just as good as the more expensive brands. Luckily my 13y/o DS doesn't care about name brands, he purchases according to the looks not the label (I'm so proud!!!!) :goodvibes

So happy I logged on to Disboards! I have been tearing up our mall looking for a new bathing suit and just didn't want to pay end of season prices that weren't on sale yet. I will be headed to Walmart now---I know their prices are great, but who would have ever thought that they had great bathing suits too:banana:!!!! Thanks!

I purchased the white stag shirred halter swimsuit from Walmart at the beginning of the season for $30. BEST.SWIMSUIT.EVER! :cool1:
It looks so classic!
I've looked all over for a swimsuit that would hide my tummy, yet look stylish. This is it! Great size selection as well!

I'm usually a swimsuit snob, but the most flattering suit I have now is from Walmart! It is a black one piece with a skirted bottom, all shirred in the front with gold grommets at the arm strap area. I love it, but it does pill more easily than my more expensive LE and VS Suits. I pushed the envelope wearing it this year, it is allmost 6 sizes too big, but the skirt hid how baggy the butt area was!:lmao:

If they still have this style I will buy another in the smaller size next year!

Thanks for the tip. I am hoping to get one at the beginning of the season next year and I would have never thought to check there.
