Love my ipad2

Disney does not have WiFi and as Dvc we get free Internet. Is there any way to plug an I Pad 2 into the Internet x

i also don't really get the ipad...
they're not very widespread where i live (israel), but i did see one the other day (my nephew was given one by his high-tech company)..
it seems cute (though it's missing flash and all that), but for the price, geez, i could buy a laptop to end all laptops....
so i don't get it really...

Apple in general has a much higher following in the US.

You would need to bring a wireless router and set it up in your room in order to get wifi to the ipad.

the iphone caught on pretty well here....it took forever to get here so there was lots of pent up demand...(iphones became available here a year ago)

but the ipad is so incredibly expensive, i just don't see it catching on here..
people just don't have that kind of money to throw around on toys...

it's even crazy expensive in the states...and i assume it's at least twice that here....so i just don't see it.....
and really....where do you keep it? cargo pants with really really big pockets?
even man purses aren't big enough for an ipad...

and besides, do you really have to be that connected 24/7?

can't you wait until you get home to go online?

i love pictures of families out to dinner or on vacation and they're all sitting around looking at their own ipads/iphones and not interacting with each other....

I love the iPad 2 and have enjoyed using Face Time (similar to Skype) to talk to our kids and grandkids! :goodvibes

IPads start at $499 for a wifi only model with 16gb of storage and the price increases as you add storage and the option of using 3G.

I carry my iPad almost everywhere in an average size "man bag". It's about the same size as an average magazine and weighs apparoximately 2 lbs.

Because of what I do for a living, being connected from anywhere allows me to help a client / guest from just about anywhere.

I've seen those same family photos where people all have their heads down and are looking at an electronic device, but it's my opinion that the real culprit is the iPhone / Droid / Blackberry etc.

If you dont think you need an iPad, you probably dont need an iPad....but I'm sure you've read the same posts from people who said they didnt want or need an iPhone and then once they got one stated "that they dont know how they lived without it."

As for the number you see in Israel.....while I realize that this information is a year old, it was quite easy to find several articles stating that

"According to a report in Israel newspaper Haaretz, the country's Communications Ministry has decided to "block the import of iPads to Israel." The paper also reported that when people attempt to go through customs, officers have been ordered to take all iPads. Owners are even being charged a fee for custom officials to hold on to their iPads until they're returned when the ban lifts."

Actually, that ban only lasted 2 weeks. I was REALLY lucky, because I never heard about it until *after* I got back from Israel. They had lifted the ban not long before I went there after my Med cruise last year. I'd've been crushed if they took mine from me (especially since I had all my cruise photos on it, and my memory card had died). I wonder now if they'd've returned it to me when I left...

Sayhello

yes, that article is a year old and completely irrelevant....
that ban lasted a very short time....
and was aimed at gray marketed ipads, not the official import of ipads (which hadn't begun yet)

the reason there aren't many here is because they are too expensive..
and apple is very slow at bringing products here...
as i mentioned, iphone only got here about a year ago.....because of apple, not because of the ministry of communications....

ipad is available, but the ipad2 isn't....it can be preordered and costs about $650 here for the 16gb...
$650 is a lot of money.....even $500 is a lot of money....

if you want to see the official apple site here:

http://store.idigital.co.il/ipad

and note that apple wouldn't even go under the official 'apple' name here..
they had to hide under a different name...
