I'm curious about this - lately I've met several different people, some only on the internet, some in person, that use the term love quickly and easily (not romantically). For example, we're talking via email about similar interests for a few weeks and then all of a sudden one of their emails were signed love ya from then on out.

A couple of people I'm working w/ adoption wise within a week or so were saying love you before getting off the phone and another aquaintance has said it since the first month since I met her.

I'm just wondering if I'm emotionally broken since I can't remember casually using the term love - and I'm not complaining, but I know I'm not THAT loveable. Now - I do have to admit that when it was said on the phone I automatically said it back even though I didn't in particularly mean it and would have never initially said it. I know that's bad, but I didn't know what to say. :confused3 Is love ya just taking the place of bye, see ya, etc among people and I've missed the boat? (again)

Hmmm, I'm not really sure. I don't say "Love you" to people over the phone, but I sign all the notes I write to my friends at school with a <3 or LuV~ya, or LuVuLyKeAsis or something. I'm weird though. :rotfl:

Well, I recall a DIS family that used the phrase "Love ya, mean it" a lot. . .

But for us, I just tryto remember to tell DH "Love you very much" before we go to bed . . .

For me, I only say it/write it when I really mean it. It's not a "bye" or "see ya" for me. :confused3

I will say "love ya" instead of good bye to people by accident. 90 % of my calls are from DH and family and i have got into a habit pattern. I don't even realize but Dh noticed when i was ending calls to businesses, dr.s etc i would go on auto pilot ending the call. Very embarrasing!

DD12 does this too. Nobody else I know does this except her and all her girlfriends. It has been bothering me that she uses "love" so casually.

I have had people I work with tell me how much they love me because I am such a good friend and then they look at me like they're wanting me to say it back. I am not even much of a hugger to 'friends' so this one really throws me! I never know what to say back and then feel like I either hurt their feelings or just look like an idiot. I don't get it, either. :confused3

I don't verbally say it too much, but I sign all of my notes and everything

<3-ss or <3-shelby.

I prefer the term "lust ya" .......oh wait- nevermind

I don't say 'I love you' randomly and I don't say it unless I mean it. I don't sign anything with 'I love you' either. In fact, the only two people not related to me I'll say 'I love you' to are my boyfriend and my best friend. And I do love them both dearly, so I make sure they know it. :)

If I've had a couple drinks though, it's a different story. Then I love everyone haha.

I say love you to my friends all the time, some of them "internet" friends. I do love them though. :) I say only say it if you mean it and are comfortable with using it. Some people aren't. DH had a hard time adjusting to my family when we first got married -- we hug a lot, we say love you a lot, we're generally a pretty demonstrative bunch, and DH was not raised that way. He eventually came around, but I never pushed it....people are different and everyone has their tolerance level for that sort of thing.

I use Love you, or Love ya but only when I mean it.

I have some great internet friends that I definately love to peices and don't hesitate to let them know it. :goodvibes

With family, we say it all the time to one another especially to my son. I make sure I tell him at least once a day how much I love and cherish him. :cloud9:

I pretty much love everybody (as a friend :rotfl: ), so, I say it alot.

(And yes. I mean it when I say it.)

I have used love a couple of times on the board mainly with the gals on the DIS BC GAGWTA board b/c my sistas there helped me out immensely during my cancer scare and I appreciated their support, prayers, etc. more than they could ever know. It was the best way I could express my feelings of gratitude to them.

I tell DS8 and DH that I love them all the time, same w/my Dad and Grandmother and brother. I also tell my two girlfriends that I love them b/c I do. They're the best pals a gal can have. I also say "Love you" to my aunt and my cousin as they are just like my mom and sister. Oh, and my SIL, Sally b/c she is just like a sister to me. I don't have in-laws (both deceased) but I know I told them "Love you!" more than once b/c I did. Aside from that, there aren't many others who get an I Love You or a love you.
