OK, there have been loads of references to Marmite on the CB recently with various people admitting to lovingor loathing it!!

Which camp do you fall into and why?

I'm a Marmite LOVER - always have been ever since I was a wee nipper. I was a very fussy child too and this was one of the few things I would eat

For me, Marmite on hot buttered toast is about as close to heaven as it gets. What does the thought of Marmite do to you??

Well, strangely, I usually find Marmite a vile and noxious substance, good only for resurfacing the road or as a handy alternative to glue.....however, whilst spreading it on the kidlets toasted soldiers this week (a task I usually do at arms length and with a clothes peg on my nose) I have a very strange desire to EAT it. Blllluuuuurrghhghgh....It must be pregnancy hormones doing strange things to me. Havent succumbed to its lure yet...but I know its out to get me.

Can't stand it ~ Have tried to like it because of all the fuss people make about it but can't.

I was another fussy eater. My mother says it's one of the few things I'd eat as a small child. In fact I had marmite sandwiches for tea nearly every day. Do you remember there used to be an advert about "Are you a marmite baby?" well I certainly was.

I have found that a lot of people who don't like marmite tend to spread it on too thickly.

The mere smell of it makes me ill.

Remember that advert where a young couple have a kiss just after one of them has eaten Marmite well that happened to me – got home from work one night and kissed my DDs hello in the usual manner only to discover that one of them had just eaten a bag of marmite flavoured crisps, ooooooyukkkkkk I was literally gagging and couldn’t get rid of the taste. There is now a total ban on all Marmite products in our house so DH always asks for a Marmite sandwich when he goes to his sisters!

I was very in-between on this before and would only eat it in moderation. However, once I became pregnant it was the only thing in the morning that I could manage on toast. Your body knows whats good for you as its rich in all the vitamins you need. So if you are pregnant, just go for it, your body is trying to tell you something!

IMO you can't spread it too thickly. Just put a spoon in the jar and eat it Mmmmmmmm.
