Has anyone been to WDW during the love bug infestation? We were there in May a few years ago and the love bugs were everywhere!!! We are going back to WDW in 2 weeks and I was concerned about the love bugs. Are they still the problem we found a few years ago? Are they in season now? Does anyone know?
Thanks for all the info

We were there the first week of October last year and they were still everywhere. However, the were the worst on our first day and there seemed to be less and less of them by the time we left...so I guess they were on their way out. We've been to WDW over a dozen times and I've never even noticed them until the last trip. Was it just an extremely bad year?

A Floridian will need to confirm this but I was told they only last 4-6 weeks a year and that is in Septmeber and October every year...
They are harmless and called Love bugs because they have two heads so I was told they do cause a big mess however as there are a lot of them and they get all over driving cars :drive: to put it nicely :rotfl2:

We just returned from WDW and they are already in season :rolleyes1 , but not too prolific  . I think they're still at the "dating stage", but not yet ready for commitment. :lmao:

Just got back last night, YES, they're everywhere, freaks out my DS (he hates bugs) they're all over the front bumpers of the cars.

We were at Disney last September 15-23 and the love bugs were in "full swing" ! They were everywhere. We had to clean the seats for every outdoor ride/seat we sat on. Often times, we would find them crawling in our hair, clothes, bags, strollers, etc. each night. Our day at Animal Kingdom was, by far, the worst day; it was as if they were swarming and we'd spend our walks through that park swatting as we went. Although we had a fantastic time and experienced our first MNSSHP while there, I will say that those bugs were quite a bother at times. We stayed at POP Century and obviously someone would come through and spray while we were out each day because mounds of dead love bugs would be at our door upon our return--Yucky :snooty: !

Anyway, there's my love bug experience. I had been to WDW in Sept/Oct timeframe before, but this past trip was my first time being affected by them. Try to enjoy your trip, but you will know that it is love bug season while you are there.

We were there the same time as Kristamil last year, and I'd have to agree that they were quite plentiful! Just thought I'd add that they seemed to like the color white, so I'd avoid wearing it. I noticed that they seemed to congregate a lot on white benches & the one day we all wore matching white shirts they seemed extra bothersome.

We just came back too. They started getting a little more noticeable on May 3rd. Not a fan of the Love Bugs either.

If folks at WDW don't like love bugs, we in the Everglades will make you an unprecedented offer.

We'll trade you our deer flies and horseflies for your love bugs. In fact, we'll take a pair of lovebugs off your hands for each horsefly you take!

Um...that's not precisely correct. They often appear to have two heads :rolleyes1 ...but in fact, each lovebug only has one head.

And yes, they are harmless...unless you ride a bike or motorcycle with a big grin on your face.:teeth:

Took my 4 year old grand daughter last sept and the love bug were all over. Never seemed to really bother us, they were too busy I guess. My grand daughter still talks about her trip to Disney and adds about all the bugs that were "stuck together". As you can imagine this leads to some interesting looks.

We are about a third of the way through our spring love bug season. Unfortunately, I suspect they will still be here when you come down. Hopefully, they will be almost gone though. I grew up in south Louisiana, and we had them there, too, so they don't really bother me -- except at the height of their season.

Lots of interesting stories about the love bug. None of them true though. They are not a man-made creature and they don't eat mosquitos.

I was there last year from Sept 21-Oct 9nd and they were everywhere. See for yourself.

Yep all those black things, love bugs. Once you realize they are not going to hurt you they are just annoying. One word of advice, make sure you eat indoors.

Well when we were in Disney this past JANUARY , yes in January they were everywhere. A CM told us it was because it had stayed so warm thru January they stayed along with it. Yes they are annoying, and they move so slow you swat them and they just stick to you.

Actually there are 2 times of year they are in season and that is precisly the times I have been going to WDW for the last 2 1/2 years May and Sept/Oct. We don't get them as bad 2 1/2 hours south of WDW but I do see them smooshed on vehicles (just saw some today!!) so I assume they are around - I think they are attracted to motor vehicle exhust so they are really bad on the highway.

I went to WDW for a quick trip from Saturday to Tuesday. The Love Bugs were pretty low key until Monday. When I drove home on Tuesday, my windshield and bumper were covered in them. :crazy2:

I kept overhearing people complain that they were afraid the two-headed bugs were going to bite them. The way they were saying it made me think that they wouldn't appreciate me telling them that the two-headed bugs were actually two bugs and they weren't going to bite, because they were a tad bit distracted with other things. :rolleyes1

Last Sept. they were very bad, worse it seems at BB, maybe because of all the hot white rocks?
My favorite thing I heard during our stay was that Disney actually "invented" the bugs to eat the mosquitoes!!

They are already in season, granted they aren't that bad right now but they are out and about. They are two individual bugs attached at.... well they are attached where one might suspect they'd be attached to be called lovebugs. They don't bite, they do stink if you squish them, they can be harmful to car finishes, they tend to fall to the ground if you pull them apart and they'll be around until September-ish. :)

I'll take lovebugs over bugs that sting, attack and make a lot of noise.
