LOUSY valet parking policy & manager

Just for information:
We stayed at PBH last weekend and used the valet service (just call me lazy ;) ). Anyway, I kept the ticket they put on your windshield as a souvie. I was surprised when I looked at it when I got home. The company that does the parking at PBH is not related to either Universal or Loews. This may be the same situation with the valet at the regular garage.
By the way, I definitely think valet at PBH is worth it. They take your bags directly from the car to your room and back to the car for you. Plus, they only charged me two days for a three day stay.

what exactly was the inconsistent part of the policy?

The patron said that the policy was inconsistent because if you paid $8 for garage parking it was good for all day; you could come and go as you please. With valet parking, it was $16 but it was only good for one time. For example, if you left and came back you had to pay your $16 again.

Oh I see, but they were tod the policy before the car was parked, right?
I could just imagine what would happen if they let you go in & out for valet parking! The poor parking attendants would go crazy!

There are signs around at the VIP Parking as well as the front that state that.

Also as I recall you sign a waiver that states that as well.

I agree that the policy is a ridiculous one. But I'm not going to make a Disney vs. Universal argument based on that! I love both parks and they both have thier pluses and minuses.

Amen, Disney Debbie!

It really urks me that people feel the need to compare the two entities, every piece of paper on the ground, every policy, every CM that gets on their nerves.... It's so silly...

OP, we will agree to disagree, after all this is a Universal board manned with Universal fans. You wouldn't have lasted a minute if you posted a slur on the Disney boards, loyalty has it's defensive mechanisms!

I have used the valet parking many times, with the AP it's very cheap, like $7 the last time I used it, not because I'm lazy but because I cannot walk for long periods of time because of a chronic illness. I don't leave and return to parks, I stay for a certain amount of time and then go back to my hotel or whatever. This is news to me, and thanks for that.

But as kelly noted, this is a service, not a parking spot. As you pointed out, you had a problem with Universal from the jump, so this was the straw that broke the camels back.

Sorry you missed out on a wonderful park and a wonderful experience.

Also, I really don't consider you lazy if you use valet, if you want to use it at a hotel...great, a nightclub...even that isn't bad, I'm just saying that valet at a theme park is kinda pointless, does cedar point, or any paramount parks have valet, so I just don't see getting valet at a theme park. It dosen't make ya lazy

Ok, Im am trying to remain calm here, but this is just ridiculous. I agree with what everyone is saying about valet being a service, you cannot compare it to parking in the garage. BUT, this part about being lazy if you have to use valet really makes my blood boil. When I was there in December, the first day I paid for preferred parking, had a handicap permit, and STILL parked way out in no man's land. I was with my 17yr old friend, who has a prosthetic leg, I felt so bad that she had to walk that far without being able to take a rest. Well I had no idea about valet until the following day, im sorry, but the valet was the greatest thing for us. It certainly was closer to walk than preferred, and not that much more money. So no, not everyone is lazy that uses valet, there might just be some reasons you just didn't want to think about.

Not to be argumentative harmony - and I don't care who uses valet parking or who doesn't! - but in your situation don't they let you drive up pretty close to the entrance and let people off? I know WDW used to do that - I assume they still do and I'd think Universal would too.

Not being argumentative at all! I honestly didn't find that at Universal or Disney, maybe I wasn't asking the right people, not sure?????

There has to be some arrangement for the handicapped. All of the rides have special arrangements, there should be something for parking and actually getting to the park? Walking the parks must have been torture!

I believe, I'm not sure, I think you can arrange for a wheel chiar to meet out at the garage, when you park you would have to ask a parking attendent. Also, they only I can say is, everything is up to ADA code. All the rides, shops, and restaurantes, and I guess even parking.

Also, a reason I believe valet was designed for Citywalk more then the theme parks, is because where it is located, if they truley designed valet for the parks the could've turned the bus loops by IOA, and the studio for valet.

I agree with what was just said, as I stated before in previous posts I used it once and I got JAWS all the way at the end of the parking deck. If I went normally I would have got Jurassic Park which would have been faster. I don't care how long or far I have to walk but Prefrerred and VIP Parked are not worth $11 & $16.

As for VIP Parking there are signs all around that point to VIP.

As for VIP as a service, if you have a medical condition it's a good service I suppose less of a walk, not much but is shortened. My father has a heart condition, which now has made it so he never goes to the parks anymore, but when he could I dropped him off there and went and parked in the parking deck. Then at the end of the day picked him up there.

Lets not forget that near where you park is a Wheelchair/EUV rental area so you can rent that before you go to the parks. That saves you a walk as well.
