We have coupons for free lounge at Pearson, that I'd like to use. We have never used any of the lounges before. We will be flying Westjet, terminal 3. I understand that it will be gate A. Has anyone used the lounge? How much time should I allocate for the lounge? We will be flying out about 9:00a.m., and will be pre-boarding with the wheelchair, so how much earlier should I check in at our gate? I'd rather hang out in the lounge than at the gate.

I have never used the lounges, but I would love to know if it's worth the cost. Let me know.

I've only used the Maple Leaf lounge in the US departures area in Terminal 1. *If* the two are anything alike, you should be able to find newspapers, wifi, a variety of snack and light meal items (mostly cold) and beverages. There was a special area for children accompanied by an adult. Comfortable chairs, some tables, tv. I think there were showers. There was a fairly large conference room too. Drawbacks, you couldn't bring food or drinks in with you, and most important, there were no announcements, so you had to track the time to your boarding very carefully.

Have you tried searching your lounge area on the Pearson or airline website?

Since you're on West Jet, I assume your coupon is for the Plaza Premium lounge. This article gives some info on it.:

We don't use a lounge at our departure airport unless the flight is delayed for some reason. We just don't see the logic of arriving unnecessarily early. (We do use them when we have a wait for connecting flights). Your boarding pass should tell you when boarding will begin. Depending on the aircraft and the airline, it can be anywhere from 30-45 minutes before the departure time. If you have someone in a wheelchair, you really have to be there before that time so the gate attendants can make the necessary arrangements.

Assuming the coupon is for the Plaza Premium Lounge, at Pearson it depends on which terminal and your destination whether there is a lounge.

The US transborder lounge is in the Air Canada terminal, not the WestJet terminal:

Both terminals have domestic and international departure lounges.

Terminal 3 Lounges
  • Domestic - Just past gate B24
    Hours: 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • International - Across from gate C32
    Hours: 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Yes , it is for the Plaza Premium lounge. I'm wondering if after I clear customs, if I can veer off to the left, use the lounge, then go to gate A for preboarding.

WestJet uses terminal 3. Plaza does not have a lounge in the US departures area in terminal 3 (see list in previous post), so there will be no Plaza lounge for you to use.

You just gave me the biggest laugh .. all i can see is this!

pampam....Starwind is correct. Unfortunately those passes won't be useable for your upcoming MCO trip. Bummer, I know.

The offerings inside the YYZ Terminal 3, USA-side are mediocre, at best. The boarding lounges can get a little cramped if multiple flights are leaving at the same time, so my advice is to get there early (i.e. at check-in at least 3 hours prior to flight). Once through customs and security, stake out a place near the gate (there are wheelchair priority seats near each gate, but not many). There is Starbucks, a sit-down restaurant, a cafeteria-style bakery/cafe, and depending on which gate you will depart from, the best food option, in my opinion, is "Freshii" right by gate A20.

Just keep thinking about your touchdown in Orlando, and the beginning of a magical trip!

I also have a Pearson priority lane pass. It is supposed to expediate going through security. How does that work? When and how do I use it?

It gets you in a quicker screening lane, so depending on the lineup at security, it could save you some serious time. The screening process is the same, however.

Show your pass along with your boarding pass when entering the security lineup, there is signage to direct you there: "American Express Platinum, Priority Screening, Business class tickets..." etc.
