I know there is a very large contingency of Louisiana residents who frequent these boards. My reason for posting today is twofold:
1- Sending prayers out to all who are dealing with the devastating rains & catastrophic flooding. This board was a wonderful resource during Katrina, & I hope a few of you can check in to let us know everything is OK. I'm very concerned about the DISers I know who live in Baton Rouge & Lafayette metro areas.
2 - Asking for those of you with travel plans to avoid the I-10 & I-12 corridors in Louisiana. Both have very long stretches closed due to dangerous rising flood waters, and alternate routes are being threatened as well.
To put it in perspective, the Baton Rouge metro area has received between 10-20+" of rain in the last 24-36hours, with more forecast. Yes, you read that right....nearly 2 FEET of rain, all because of a tropical storm-like system that is just sitting on top of us.
I am afraid there will be more than a few stories of people who left their flood-ravaged homes post-Katrina, started anew in the Baton Rouge suburbs, and are facing yet more devastation courtesy of Mother Nature.

I haven't watched the weather, but I hope it clears up for you soon.
