Loud commercials constantly playing while I am on disboards.com??

I'm not sure if I'm posting this on the right place. I have been having a recurrent ad constantly popping up while I'm on disboards.com. It's a loop about Floyd Mayweather partying with Johnny Menzell (Not sure if I spelled those correctly, I have no idea who either of them are and I can't say that I care based on the ad!). Sometimes 2 of the ads play at the same time about a second apart, which is really fun. I have to turn my speakers off to get rid of them, and then they are playing frequently I just can't hear them. I can sometimes find the ads, they are either all the way at the bottom or in between posts. If I find them I hit pause, but that only works for a second or so and it either starts again or a new one elsewhere starts. I have to close the window or turn the speakers off to get rid of it then. I know it's this window because the speaker symbol shows at the top of it. Sometimes I can't even find the ads on the page to try to close them. I'm logged in to disboards, so that isn't it. It's driving me crazy, is there any way to get rid of it? Anyone else have this happen?

This site is what finally compelled me to install an ad blocker. Some months ago I stated getting ads even when logged in, and some of them were like you described - loud, obnoxious, self starting videos. I posted on the tech boards to see if it was a glitch, and found others who described the same thing happening, but the thread never got an official response. I finally decided to take matters into my own hands and install an ad blocker. Blessed silence at last!

Thank you for replying! I didn't see the tech boards - I thought something like that existed but I guess i missed it somehow. Maybe I'll look again. So at least I know I'm not the only one. I'll have to do some googling - but if you don't mind answering a few basics. Is an ad blocker free or did you buy or subscribe to one, and did it work? Does it block all ads then, or just this page. I like the help I get from these boards and just the general info - but this is a REALLY annoying aspect of it!

It was a free ad blocker, but I'm not at my home computer at the moment, so I can't check to see what the name was. It blocks everything on the browser.

What browser do you use? I use Firefox on my home computer and use the add-on Adblock Plus, which you can disable on certain sites if they have unobtrusive ads and you want to financially support them. I have two adblockers for Chrome on my work computer, but I don't remember off the top of my head which ones.

...Literally as I was typing this I got sound from a video ad even though I turned my adblocker back on for this site, so I guess I need to check whether Adblock Plus has an update I can install or if there's something else I can use. :/

Okay, I just installed AdBlock (its logo is a white hand in a red circle) and it's working much better. I have both adblockers set to allow ads identified as nonintrusive...but none of the ads on Disboards apparently qualify. It's showing that it's blocking 8 ads every time I load a page on here, which doesn't surprise me because suddenly the site is loading much faster for me.
