What's the point of super loud booming bass in a car? You can't even hear any music - just rumbling.

I don't know, but my neighbor manages to make my floor and windows shake at least once a week. The latest was at 6am on Monday, while his car warmed up. Oh and he wasn't even in the car.

I hate those loud radios/bass .

They drive through our neighborhood all hours of the day thumping. And thats sad is that most of the time, the system is really bad and theres static and such... like the speakers cant handle it.

We are blessed, right now, to have NO neighbors that do it. So we just have to listen to them drive through the intersection and go on their way.

I dont get it.

My DH says that the sub woofers are non directional, which is what makes them so loud outside the vehicle. I sometimes play my radio loud, (sunny summer days, no kids:smooth: ) and it can be much louder bass outside the car than in. Just another point.

I can set my watch by the factory workers getting off.
BOOM BOOM BOOM

We have a 1998 Chev Malibu with a nice sound system in it 2 10" subs in the trunk and a 250 watt Pheonix Gold amp to run them and a sweet set of speakers in the doors and rear deck. We love going to the drive in with it and ya when the kids are not in the car I like to let it loose. I did however have the car and trunk lined with dynamat so that you hear the music in the car not four blocks away. Next install is the DVD system we allready did the suspension and the windows are black as night well the back ones anyhow.

meandtheguys is on the right track. It's not supposed to sound good to us on the outside, it sounds good on the inside (if it's done right). I am a recovering "Meathead, Bass-a-holic" having worked in the HiFi industry for 12 years.

I will probably reinstall part of my system in my car this spring. Just one sub instead of 2, and only one multi channel amp instead of all 3  I know, I know.....

We run MTX black gold subs Pheonix Gold Saphire amp Pioneer Premier head unit with MP3 and WMA playback. Our doors and rear deck carry MB Quart speakers. All running through PG cables and a nice cap to save the battery. We have a set of Eibach springs in the car to lower it 1.5 inches makes a huge difference when you pull up beside a stock malibu also running a K&N cold air intake on it and a performance chip in the computer. Mind you that is nothing you should see the work I put into my 2000 CBR 600F4 the motor makes 118 HP at the wheel and well anyhow the car sounds really nice

I can cope with people having loud music in their cars. It's when they have to open their windows/sun roof that I get annoyed. That's when I open MY windows and play lovely, calming classical music REALLY LOUD!
Silly I suppose, but it makes me smile!

I think they are the same clowns who drive with their fog lights on, in the city, with no fog, oblivious to what they do to oncoming drivers and/or the law, self-centered people, thinking of ME only.

I agree with Dan Murphy.

There is more to driving than keeping your hands on the wheel

I just read over the posts and realized I posted you could hear my car stereo from 4 blocks away when what I meant to say was with the dynamat you do not hear the car 4 blocks away.

I suppose I am glad that no one here lives near me... I know my music is loud and I like bass... I am nice and try to keep my windows and sunroof closed while blaring it though ;)

The people next door like to be outside and play the bass loud. You can hear and feel it. Then also their driveway runs between our two houses. They have friends that like to pull in the drive with it loud and since its right between the two houses it magnifies the sound. Everytime I ask them to turn it down I get the rolling eyes and the "It aint that loud" remark.
Whats really sad is they have young children(ages3,4) and it bothers me what the loud music is doing to their young ears.

Then the kid 2 doors down just got a car and the first thing he did? yep subwoofer!

I really hate it when a "rumble bass" car pulls up next to me, and then I can't hear my own music. Dan's right - they can't get past the ME thing.

I like loud music as much as the next person, but the loud thudding of a car driving by my house a 1 am or 3 am is unecessary. My neighbors and I, when we have BBQ's all tune to the same station, and rock the neighborhood. Block parties are great!

I hate it. Especially when someone has the booming sound sitting RIGHT outside of our store, making the windows rattle. Sheesh!

2 MTX 12's, 6 speaker Infinity system, 500 watt bazooka amp(think its 500) here in my car(not driven much at all since I got my motorcycle)

I use to love putting the sunroof back and windows down, cranking up the volume. If ya didn't like it, roll up your windows and turn up your music! :rotfl:

When your 16-18ish, you really care less about the people around you and how they feel, ;)

Hey Chad what kind of bike do you ride? I have shaken the rearview mirror off my front window and made it so that I couldn't even look in my sideview mirrors because they were vibrating so badly. Note to everyone I have 3 ids and never play the stereo this loud when any of them are in the car mind you we will turn it up pretty loud while out in the driveway washing it.
