I was at the "Rock 'n' Roll Animal" show that was turned into an album. I'm the one whoopin' and hollerin' at the "Intro/Sweet Jane" beginning. When he came out on stage, nobody knew who he was for a second. Gone was about 40 pounds...gone was the longish brown hair and there strutting in stage right was this skinny, blond hair short and spiky Lou Reed! What a "transformation"!
My friends and I must have gone to 200+ concerts in those days, from the beginnings at the Fillmore East to venues like the Bottom Line, Max's Kansas City, CBGBs, the Beacon, Academy of Music, Felt Forum, etc. Gone are those days. My son, 18, listens to Tool, Marilyn Manson, Sevendust, Deftones. It sounds like alot of noise to me. Concerts were an EVENT. People dressed up in their boas, veiled hats, velvet cloaks. I miss those days. And Lou played a big part in it. Thanks for helping me remember!
Rock on...Wilma
