So the speculation is that free dining will be announced the 7th or 10th of April. Here are my what if's-new guidlines say that AP holders can get the dining plan without having to buy at least a one day ticket, what if you are an AP holder, have a DVC reservation, already have notified that you are doing the DDP, then free dining is announced, can you get the free dining? Even though you have not paid for a room, since you have the DVC ressie, and have the AP, is this possible.

The so-called free dining promotion isn't just "free dining." It's "free dining with a travel package that includes 3+ nights in a Disney resort at full rack rate plus a ticket purchase."

It doesn't matter that Disney lets DVC Members and AP holders pay to add the dining plan to reservations--they still aren't going to simply give us hundreds of dollars worth of food for free. This is a promotional package designed to put bodies in Disney resort rooms and the theme parks.

If you are staying on points there will NOT be Free Dining. You MUST be paying Disney Resorts NOT DVC for this.

If you have an AP who knows. This is the first few months that AP folks staying at Disney resort (paying CASH) have been able to add Free Dining. Personally I expect it's going to require the ticket purchases

Remeber, nothing "free" really is. The "free" dining is to encourage people to pay rack rates for rooms that would otherwise be empty. SInce as a DVC member, you aren't paying "rack rate" for your stay, you do not qualify for "free" dining.

Quite literally TINSTAAFL, in this case.

(There is no such thing as a free lunch)

My understanding was that one could purchase the DDP if you are a DVC member staying on points. The cost was like $38.95 pp per day. And you had to buy the same number of days for everyone in your party, regardless of how many days you were staying. Say for instance we will be a party of 8 staying for 10 days, I could buy 7 days of DDP, but it had to be for all 8 of us in the party.

At least that is the way I understood it explained to me by the CM when I booked my reservation. I believe she also told me that we could purchase the plan when we arrive and check in.

Yes at any time DVC members or renters can purchase the DDP and yes it must be purchased for everyone in the room. However, you must have it added at least 3 days prior to your check in date.

So are you saying that you can add the DDP to your DVC stay as long as you purchase it for everyone listed on your reservation, but you don't have to add it for your entire reservation stay?? Is that right? You used the example of your party of 8 staying 10 nights, but only getting the DDP for 7 days. I didn't think you could do that. Can someone clarify this for me please? :confused3

No, you have to add it for the entire length of your reservation.
